I posted these questions on Phoenix Tuning's forum and will post here as well. Hopefully this can be used as a reference for me and other prospective swappers.
I was dead set on an ST205 front clip as the donor, however, I am looking more into an ST215. I do have questions though: If i do go for an ST215 (which is my new first choice), what are the major components i need to make sure it has if i get just the engine? I've read on other forums that buying the whole clip is unnecessary since the engine comes with everything. Other than the uncut harness and ecu, what else do i need to make sure it has? What about the custom disc/flywheel/plate combination to match the 3s to the stock Gt transmission? Is there any difference between what I would have to do normally on a 3rd gen? These are just some from the top of my head. I am not worrying about the wiring right now as I will leave that to a professional. Thanks for any information -------------------- |

Thanks for any information with an engine set, more specificly a st215 engine set, you just gonna wanna make sure all the engine sensors, everything the harness attaches to in the engine bay (IE, map sensor, ect) is all intact, and included. with the 205 setup its getting harder and harder to get a truly complete setup, most do not include the heat exchanger, pump, or lines. (although some will set you up with aftermarket parts so that you get a complete setup if you want) if your using the stock GT (S54) tranny, you will need to use a hybrid clutch setup, consisting of a 3s flywheel, and pressure plate, and a custom 3s clutch disk, with the s54 spline count, or a 5s clutch disk. no changes from any of the other 3s/s54 setups. tweak can set you up with a hybrid clutch setup, or most of the clutch companies will make you a custom setup if you call them without issue. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Thank you so much for the helpful information. I am keeping my eyes open for an st215 or st205 complete engine set. I've contacted a few importers but none seem to be very knowledgeable about the toyota engine line especially when they say they have the full engine set when I can clearly tell that they don't..
But I'm dead set on a 3rd or 4th gen 3s. There is no question about it. I was hooked when I drove a swapped mr2. (i know, not completely the same but still) I know the 4th gen had a different exhaust manifold design than it's predecessors but will a downpipe from a 3rd gen fit with no modification? I've tried many forums across the languages but could find a set "yes" or "no." Thanks again for your help. You may see a swap thread soon depending on if i can figure out exactly what i want (and find it ) Malek -------------------- |

I've tried many forums across the languages but could find a set "yes" or "no." No, a gen 3 downpipe will not fit the ST215 turbo. You will need to build your won or to buy this one and modify your midpipe because the lower flange on the downpipe is a different : http://www.drivenperformance.co.nz/scripts...?idproduct=1330 Good luck with your swap!
