Sorry if this has been covered multiple times and beaten to death, I've searched and didn't come up with anything. Is there any way to modify the fog lights to have them able to turn on with out having the headlights on? I've looked at the circuit and couldn't really see a way to do it, and I couldn't for the life of me get the relay out. I've done this mod on my 05 Corolla and all I had to do was cut a wire coming from the switch and ground it, and on my 05 Tacoma I bent a leg of the relay and tapped into a 12v source. Has anyone done it?

not sure exactly what kind of fogs you have, but if you just run a 12V (from anywhere, even the radio) to a switch (mount it anywhere you want, I have 5. one of them controlling my fogs) and then to the lights.
I assume if they are hooked up to a relay you would need to run wires to the pos and neg wires of the fogs at the front of the car. But it should work 12V►switch►fogs -------------------- |

I'm running the stock fogs and they're controlled by the oem combination stalk.

i never had oem fogs, but take them out, im sure there is just two wires connected. Find out which one is positive and which is negative with a test light, or a dvom. and wire them to a switch separately

I know I could do that but I'd like to keep it stock. No one has done this?

Honestly, it would be a lot easier to wire them to an aftermarket switch.

Well... the way I did it on my truck it took 5 minutes and I only had to touch one wire. And the factory switch works still.

what i did since i have hid's with a wire harness i ran the line from the battery to the harness inside my cabin to a switch that i can turn off and on as i please. It's better because my alarm flickers the lights which are bad for the hids but if i have the switch turned off and the light switch turned on i can turn on just the fogs. really easy but again you need the harness, you could even run normal bulbs off the harness tbh, it takes the input from the normal switch to turn on but it wont send out the current out til the switch inside the cabin i wired up is turned on.

and on my 05 Tacoma I bent a leg of the relay and tapped into a 12v source. Has anyone done it? that is the correct way on ours. Either cut the power to correct relay pin and wire in 12v when parking lights are on or tap from an acc 12v source. -------------------- |

Either cut the power to correct relay pin and wire in 12v when parking lights are on or tap from an acc 12v source. I thought so but I couldn't get the relay out... It's locked into the holder and i tried getting the tabs holding it in there loose, but I felt like I was going to break it. Is there a trick to getting the relay out? |
