I used to work at a grocery store and their gas is the worst quality and I would say all. Grocery store and wholesales is horrible How did you go about determining the quality of their gasoline? Anyone fills up with this? Its gasoline. All comes from the same place and has a state regulated min octane level. If you can buy it for less at Cosco, then do it. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

so what makes the prices different? the additives? brand name or something more? The price difference is in the fact that Cosco is ok making .01c a gallon, then the local gas station that makes .20c a gallon because they sell other things besides gasoline. They use that as a loss leader to get you to come to their store. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

i dont think it is..ive noticed with both of my cars that if i use sunoco gas it seems to last longer than if i use Sheetz gas I second this. I use Chevron all the time but I was forced to get QT one time and my mpg went down. I didn't change my driving, I didn't hot rod the car or anything. My dad ONLY used Chevron Supreme gas on his '85 AE86 and paired with good maintenance, the 4AGE lasted him 300k miles. He just got a rebuilt 4AGE with about 32k. So since I have Toyota proof, I go with Chevron. This post has been edited by HectortheRican: Aug 21, 2010 - 1:09 AM -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I fill up with shell all the time. I fill up with others on emergency. Sometimes I notice decrease in gas mileage, sometimes I dont. I just wanted to know if you guys experience the same decrease.
For reliability, I wanna know if someone fills up regularly with cheap gas without any issues. Does it really make your engine last longer? -------------------- God made man....

to be quite fair, all California gas isn't sufficient 100% for Japanese motors, because octane levels are higher (unless that is why our HP is less than theirs in engines, simply based upon being built for the gas in that area or something).
I only fill up with Chevron. A long time ago, at some lesser known gas stations, it was rumored theirs was watered down with alcohol or something. Perhaps a myth. I know once i filled up at a 76 station not too far from my house when I bought my 240sx back in 2002 and that gas didn't last. Since then, I only fill up at Chevron and I don't care the cost. I would buy a motorcycle if gas was too expensive, before I switch brands on gas. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

When I had my celica I was able to get 30 mpg every tank off of sams club gas. I use any gas and don't worry about it. When I ran my Si on the track last month I was running Sams club premium, and it performed just fine.

Sounds like proof that gas brand has nothing to do with it. Seriously, don't you guys think that if there was any scientific proof to this, these gas stations would be using it as marketing to sell people on their brand? Flying J was watering down their gas for a while in northern Utah a couple of years back. The state filed some lawsuits and it was a big deal. Thats the only time i can even remember anyone doing anything illegal to gasoline. Id think that pretty much everyones equivalent octane is pretty comparable. Some like Chevron put in more additives than others, but idk how much that would really impact your day to day mpg. Over a long period, years maybe.
