I'm trying to be-badge the rear, I got the TOYOTA off and I tried to rub the gunk away but to no avail. Goo-Gone will definitely work but I have no clue if it'll harm the paint. Has anyone used Goo-Gone on the paint and been clean? Thanks.

I've seen people recommend it here to get pinstripes and badges off. I have not done it myself though, and am not sure if it will harm the paint.

It takes off the shine a bit if your paint is fairly new. I messed up putting my emblem on my recently painted bumper and went through the ordeal of taking it off and putting it bak on. Goo gone works decent but it won't just completely come off. I got a rag and a blade and with the blade in the rag gave it a few swipes after using the goo gone. Goodluck :-)

The paint under the badge will be nicer than the surrounding paint, I used goo gone and didn't really notice it effecting the paint but I still can see where the T used to be.... Oh ya, my car is black also.... -------------------- Failing to prepare is preparing to fail!

I used it, but I plan on painting my car in the future. But as long as you wash it off good after I couldn't see it being too huge an issue.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll try to get all the gunk from the debadge off within the week. I can already see the TOYOTA outline though Any idea if that'll come out with a clay bar or a good wax?

I x2 what 96stgreeendemon and cheela said. I've used it on two of my Celicas and you couldn't tell a difference. I especially x2 cheela's advice of elbow grease, a towel, and a heat gun. A blow dryer is one of the most useful tools you can have in debadging, then Goo Gone, then the clay bar.

Unfortunately, I'm no where near an outlet where my car is, so I'll just have to let the glue bake in the sun all old school like lol

i'd say use goo gone with a heat gun and soft cloth and you shouldn't even need elbow grease. goo gone is harmless on paint as long as you don't rub too hard and clean the surface when you're done.

well i used it to get that sealing gasket off from the spoiler mounting point. A bit got on the surrounding paint and I simply wiped it off with a wet rag it didnt seem to do much harm, but ounce I got it all off I made sure to clean the areas with soapy water. so far nothing bad happened to the paint.

I'm fairly sure he is kidding, but for anyone wondering... Don't use gasoline, if it gets past your clear coat for any reason it will eat your paint fast. TRUST ME. |
