I've always loved anime/manga and I think it'd spice 6gc up even more if there was a thread to talk about it all! I know I can't be the only one who loves this!

For starters, I'm into:

The whole Dragon Ball franchise
Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
Fullmetal Alchemist
Code Geass
Initial D
Hikaru No Go
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
FLCL
Death Note
And many more movies and what not

I love anime...let's just say I have over 200 DVDs of series I've collected over the years. My total is a little over 50 shows...I think.

My personal favorites so far are Toshokan Sensou, Yakitate! Japan, Macross Frontier, the Full Metal Panic series, the Ah! My Goddess series, ROD the TV, and Suzuka.

And of course, Initial D will always have a place in my heart.

I haven't heard of half of those! And I've been meaning to look into Full Metal Panic. By ROD do you mean Read or Die? If so, that was a GREAT manga/anime. Too bad it was so short kindasad.gif

You definitely need to get your hands on a copy of Yakitate! at the least; a show about baking bread...it sounds boring but it's funny, informative, and never boring. Full Metal Panic is great too - just make sure you watch them in order: FMP, FMP Fumoffu, and then FMP: The Second Raid.

Also, Read or Die had two series: a 3-episode OVA came first and then a 26-episode series later with new characters. Both are awesome but the longer series is my favorite by far!

A good starter for high school comedy would be Great Teacher Onizuka or it's prequel Bad Company. For action/adventure I'd recommend Dogs or Full Metal Panic! Sigma. And for all of you RomCom lovers I highly recommend Ai Yori Aoshi and/or Love Hina.

Note: All of those also have anime versions but I'd recommend the manga (comic) versions first.

PS: I also have each of these if anyone wants to check them out; just PM me and I'll find away to upload them somewhere if you can't find them on the interwebs.

If you liked Dragon Ball Z, a good starter comic would be of course, Dragon Ball. haha. And Naruto and Bleach are both very great stories. Naruto is about ninjas and ancient beasts and Bleach is about soul reapers and their great enemies called hollows. Also One Piece is just amazing, it's about pirates.

And of course, if you're a car enthusiast (which I wouldn't doubt), you can't beat Initial D. All about touge racing on mountains in Japan.

Woah there's a longer ROD? I've only seen the 3 episode series and the movie! I need to look this up! Have you read a manga called Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer?

And yeah, definitely read the manga first and then watch the anime. It'll bring all the still images you enjoyed to life! And you'll be able to recognize fillers from the real story line and you won't get confuzzled.

All the chapters should be there

And as far as similarites to DBZ, I was comparing how the characters have powers and they fight bad guys. The storylines are not similar in any way at all. You might wanna check them out, there are great twists and turns along the way.

Haven't watched much in a while, but back in the day when I had roommates we watched quite a bit:

Inuyasha
Cowboy Bebop
Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
Code Geass
Neon Genesis
few good movies like Ninja Scroll

There's a few more that we watched a little bit of, can't remember them off the top of my head. Don't watch much anymore since we're getting rid of cable.

When I have enough money to go, I'm going to find these, take a picture with each one, and play each one... repetitively. If they're anything like the original Initial D arcade games, that'll be a whole day of racing.

When I go, I am going to roll around with 3 Asian girls and a bottle of Vodka.
