My '94 Cel has a 1.8 in it. Did a bunch on the engine when I put it on the road last spring. Great mileage but has bad rings and I'm not pulling it apart again.Just wondering if I can swap a 97 7afe in without too much trouble since the 97 has no distributor.
Thanks in advance. Ron, in Midd. VT |

well if u put in a new motor, it would be pretty pointless to not buy a complete motor in the first place. so theoretically, you should be able to just swap it out, although u may wanna go with 96 or older bc of the OBDI/OBDII issue

Why wouldn't it have a distributor...
And it's cheaper and easier to just go in and replace the piston rings (and I'd also recommend replacing the valve seals while you're in there) than it would be to just swap another engine in. That other engine might have another problem you don't like. Fix what you know is wrong. And if you can't replace them yourself, it's STILL cheaper to pay for a mechanic to do it. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

its really not that much cheaper.
you can get used 7a's for a couple hundred bucks. get the newer engine, swap over all your accessories, (harness, distrubutor, ect) and put it in and be done with it. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Because 97 up are aluminum block and they are Distributorless. |
