Hello there friends. So i was idle at home and thought of doing a write up of my celica here in Fiji.I'm a 18 year old university student and was gifted with the celica on my 17th birthday. It's a 1994 model ST202-BLPVF.Standard with a 3rd gen 3S-GE motor.I bought it dead stock(2009) from the previous owner and the car had done just 65XXX as it the owner had a company transport so it was sort of a weekend car for him.I fancy having it as a daily driver to uni now Here are pics of when i went to see the car:
Then came time for it get a new paint job a few weeks after i bought it(also had to change one of the high beams coz it had a hole in it and a low beam too that had broken brackets): This was all that had been done to the celi till the last year of high school(2009) when i seeked help on this site(Thanks Rusty for the information)on changing the timing belt. Also got in some mild TODA race cams during the process that my brother brought from some place: The first exterior mod i got was a pair of JDM tails and the interior mods were that of a pair of 6.5' ministry of sound door speakers,a Kenwood head unit.V12 1400 watts amplifier and 2x 10' Bomber woofers: Then came the Fujitsubo Giken exhaust with a full 2.5' pipe conversion from front to back with a single 2.5' resonator(later added a 2 inch resonator too to save on fuel and to reduce ricer noise ) Got the rear suspension changed(was too stiff) with OEM ones, changed front stabilizer links and the had brakes serviced: With the mechanical and suspension taken care of,time for some more exterior and interior mods : I had a cousin do some leather into the interior seats and door panel too : The 2.0' resonator to kill sound, improve low end torque and save on fuel: The car as it is today with all the information i gathered from this site.Believe me people this is celica heaven, filled with a whole lot of information. Thanks a lot buddies, all this would not have been possible without your input.I'm looking forward to a V6 turbo(3VZ-FTE probably)swap in the future.Input on it will be highly appreciated =].For now, here's pics i took yesterday,Enjoy : This post has been edited by kavy: Sep 10, 2010 - 5:09 PM |

I'm liking that interior. That shifter cover is something I've never seen before though.. it's weird to me lol. At least it's an auto and doesn't get in the way too much.

Everything looks good. Keep it up. You can pick up a 3VZ-FE cheap. They came in many different Toyota models so they are easy to find and parts are easy to get. Stephen_Lee is doing a 3VZ swap right now, if you look in the Engine/Mechanical section of the site.

Thanks for the pointer richee3 but i was chatting with a friend yesterday about the swap and we saw that there is little power difference between the 3S-GE an 3VZ-FE(nope,not the torque,6 cylinders are loaded with them) but we did stumble upon something of interest: a 3GR-FZE or 3R-FSE swap.It is expensive but since the current motor is doing fine and i have quite some time before i qualify and start earning, that will be something for the distant future.I saw that the 3GR is the successor of the VZ and MZ V6 motors and was wondering about the similarities and difference in getting the motor to fit. Will the mounts and fabrication on the 3GR be the same as the VZ and Mz motors??As i said, this swap will be done in time to come but all input will be appreciated to get a brief idea on the pros and cons of the swap.
Thanks zfjohnson07 Nevertheless, there are other mean looking celicas on this forum. This post has been edited by kavy: Feb 13, 2011 - 8:26 PM |

Went for a trip to Australia, got back a few goodies for the celica =D
And to save on fuel (prices shot up to $2.37 a liter of 91 octane unleaded X_X) plus to add on some power(i'm not exaggerating by saying it adds power throughout the rpm range like never felt before), a MSD6A with a Tach adapter PN.8910-EIS : Also added a Direct Power System Version 2 by Exceed and Trusty which i managed to get locally. Gives a noticeable difference nonetheless. Not too much though, but the car does feel a bit quicker. Now I'm looking to do some work on the ACIS engage point as mentioned in the ACIS/BEAMS discussion but before all that,i'm bummed as to why there is a few hp difference between a manual transmission 3rd gen 3S-GE and one with a automatic transmission.I've read in this forum that the intake cams differ but shouldn't that affect the compression of the motor???For all i know, regardless of the transmission, the compression is the same...Anyone to shed some light on this?? 3. Gen 3S-GE A/T
In: 240deg, 8.7mm lift (timing 7/53) Valve diameter: 33.5mm Ex: 240deg, 8.2mm lift (timing 53/7) Valve diameter: 29.0mm 3. Gen 3S-GE M/T In: 252deg, 9.8mm lift (timing 7/65) Valve diameter: 33.5mm Ex: 240deg, 8.2mm lift (timing 53/7) Valve diameter: 29.0mm Compression ratio (10.3 : 1) is still the same, my guess is different ECU tune. -------------------- |

Hey dude,
I'm interested in the MSD ignition system, how much does it cost, was it easy to install? Oh by the way you should be using a higher octane than 91 with a 3S-GE -------------------- Mike W

Thanks Rusty Anyone else think otherwise though??? Hey dude, I'm interested in the MSD ignition system, how much does it cost, was it easy to install? Oh by the way you should be using a higher octane than 91 with a 3S-GE The ignition system all together cost me $318AUD shipped to Ausi of-course.Got it off performanceonline.com though e-bay Yup,octane booster during fillups =] ROFL!!!Jeez!!!now that's a downer..lol.Mine's a different one from what's in the link.I got mine as F.O.C anyways But the car does feel a bit quicker(maybe its after installing the MSD where it aids in current flow or sumthing..idk,not a physics genius ). Here's a pic of it though: =] |

nice ride Thanks buddy =] im so jealous of your red colored celica. I wish mine was red!! Hehe.Next paintjob?? =] that meguiars stuff does wonders you are missing engine pictures,, would like to see what has been done to the heart of the beast nice ride bro Ah,it sure does.A few years back, right after the paintjob on the car(im guessing one of my fellow school students had a hand),the car had scratches(not too deep though.PHEW!) from what looked like someone had dragged a bag or something from the front drivers side of the vehicle all the way to the rear tail lights ..That was the time that meguiars did its wonder and after a few weeks of washing and intense human buffing with the stuff,it all faded away easy . Hehe,i knew someone would ask. Will do so right after i do a little tidying up in the engine bay(not to mention all that greasy, dusty dirt that doesn't come off just by wiping..grr...lol). Thanks bro =] |
