Ok so i had a quick question, when my engine is cold, and i make a full turn, i hear a shuddering sound and i feel it in my steering wheel.
But the funny thing is when my car is warmed up no sound whatsoever. now, there's a slight leak in my rack and pinion, so that might be it, but my mechanic friend seems to think that my power steering belt might be on too tight which might explain why it only happens when its cold.
so thats my conundrum.
any explanations?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Yup, that's probably it. I think my belt is on too tight and when my engine is cold, it whines when I turn the wheel. (Only when it's below 65 degrees or so outside, it never does it in the summer). and I have no leaks in my rack & pinion.

I just attribute it to rubber being hard and compressing when it's cold. So when it warms up and expands, it grips better and the whine goes away. I might be wrong, but that's been my logic for a while.

Mine was making quite the noise for some time.

After changing out the steering pump, belts and pulley. I learned that it was simply not tight enough, even through all my means to tighten it via the steering pump bracket.

I missed the adjustment bolt under the altenator. Few turns on that, removed the noise. Check it out, might be your issue, considering they share that belt on the 7AFE.

Make sure your resivour is full because as it gets dirty it looks like full to the line but really isn't.

I hate to thread jack.. but every time I attempt to check the PS reservoir, I can't even tell.
