If I pull the handle to pop the trunk it will not open unless somebody is standing back there to lift up on the trunk lid. The same thing if I use the key to pop the trunk. Is there a spring, or an adjustment of some sort that can take care of this?

It'll un-latch though, right? Then you just pull it up? That's what I do with mine. I think that's how it's supposed to work... We don't have fancy-smancy cars lol

Yes, I pull the lever, I hear it open, but by the time I walk back to the trunk it is completely closed and locked. I checked it out when I got home today and fixed the problem. The trunk lid has two rubber bumpers that should have just enough tension on them when the latch it pulled that it pops the trunk open enough to keep it unlatched. I guess over the years mine have either smashed a little too flat, lost some of their resiliency, or the metal on the trunk where they attach maybe got tweaked a little. There is no way to adjust them like on some cars so I used a pair of needle nose pliers to adjust the holes a little. I inserted the pliers into the holes and bent them out/down a little. Now the holes look like little upside down volcanoes. I reinserted the rubber bushings and now my trunk pops and stays unlocked just fine. Hope this helps somebody else in the future. A better way of doing it would be to just buy new rubber bushings, but this way worked just fine for now.

coupes tend to do this due to the weight of the spoiler.
I dont use the trunk, and if i do, i use my key... I tried putting a stronger spring in there, it only worked for a week... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

Ghetto style: pull down your seat belt, loop it around the lever and pull it tight to hold the lever up. Problem SOLVED!
Just don't forget to unloop your seatbelt when you close the trunk lid/hatch -------------------- |

Ghetto style 2.0, keep one of those short fat little screw drivers on the floormat at all time to wedge in between the mat and lever.
Good fix con99vert!! |
