a while back, i contaced a guy that sells motor mount inserts on mr2oc, about making some for our 6th gens. i figured it would be a great upgrade for anyone who has a gt or a swap. i got the first set of inserts a few weeks ago and instaled them this past weekend. they fit great and a nice upgrade over the stock mounts. you notice a lot more throttle response, smoother clutch engagement, as well as shifting, and you feel more connected with the engine. it should also greatly reduce wheel hop and help with traction becuase the motor wont rock back and forth as much as it does with the stock mounts. the other cool thing is that they insert over your existing mounts, so if for some reason you ever want to take them out, you can.

here is a pic of them installed on my car.

FRONT MOUNT

finally... here is a pic of the rear motor mount that i filled myself about 1yr ago. it worked well at first, but as you can see it didnt last long

last but not least, there is a really awesome Video review that an mr2 ower made about the mounts. i have to say that i pretty much agree with everything he said about them in the video. the install is a little bit different on our car then the mr2, but anyone with some basic tools can do the job. took me about 1-2hrs to do the whole thing.

link to the website that did the review:

link to the site/person that made these and will be selling them. all sales questions should be emailed to kirk:

It seems every car is different. Some experience a lot of vibrations like you have and with others it is minimal. Most of this goes away after the inserts have settled.

One thing you can do that seems to help is cut the insert to where the end is domed shape. In the picture below I just smoothed the insert out on a belt sander to make it dome shaped. This keeps the contact surface area between the insert and the motor mount bracket to a minimal. Just don't cut down any of the area around the hold as it needs to be somewhat flush with the center ring of the mount to keep the insert seated in the mount.

hey kirk, my mechanic said the same tha the motor mounts were too thick...extended out more and touching the metal brackets thus causing the engine to rattle vigorously. He took them off and the rattle disappear, but suggest me to buy a new one since it has begun to crack the rubber. Is there any way i can trade u for a dome set? I don't have the time and money or tools to do it and really want these mounts to fit in the front mounts without the loud noise and rattle. Can i trade u for a set of dome shaved front mounts? The rear is good...it is just the front.

The vibration does lessen once you break them in.

I didn't make anymore of the domed inserts but I guess if you send yours back to me I can grind them down like I did the insert pictured above.

Sorry, I'm not on this board that often.
If you ordered inserts for the Gen6 (94-99) I'm currently out of stock but should get them within the next 2 days.
Sorry for the delay.

thanks,
-kirk

They settle in after a while, but you will get more vibration than the stock mounts.
One good idea is to only install the front insert and see how you like it. It should help minimize the vibration and keep the engine from rocking as much as the stock mounts.

Sorry, I missed this post.
If you want to send them back I can hit them with the belt sander like I did in the post above. Anyone with a belt sander can do it though.

I dont think the mounts are "too" thick, mine fit just perfectly after i dropped the subframe. massive vibration for 1-2weeks after that everything feels on spot. Any chance for Front (Tbelt side) motor mounts as well as the trans side?? Front left and right do just right, would be grand to have all mounts.

i got all 4 of my motor mounts done by sending them to a suspension place who presses out the old rubber bushes, and somehow gets a template of them and fills the mounts with polyurethane liquid in the same shape as the stock rubber bushes, even with the 2 dampening holes, takes 4 days to set.

the polyurethane doesnt have a lip around the outsides like the inserts do but on the LH mount (I think it is this one) you still use the rubber shoes that padded the mount.

car vibrates, but doesnt shake

Is there anyone that has had these in for more than 12 months had any issues with these, or resultant issues from chronic vibration?
