The new WRC season has started last weekend. The race was in Monaco and it was quite interesting. Unfortunately not much was shown by the TV in my country.

I only have this to say. The Toyota presence in such a rally is , for a lack of a better word, noticeable. I guess the new Mitsubishi Lancer and the new Pegeot 307cc made it a bit interesting, but I think is unforgivable for Toyota not to participate in this rally. Ahh the good old days when the Quatros, Celicas, Evos, reigned.!!!!! rolleyes.gif

hey,
Why does Mitsu./Ralliart even waste time using a manual box and non active diffs in the WRC.. they know what it takes to win so why sink money into a car they know is only 75% as good a rest of field..

New Pug306 looks fast and a lot better then 206 ..

Skoda will be back in race 3 or 4 of the year .. their car still is not a top 8 car ..

wierd not to see Mcrae or Tommy M battling it out ..

what has happen to SAINZ .. this may be his last year ..

YES .. Toyota could dominate but it #1 priority is F1 Title . I MISS THE GOOD OL' DAYS ..

last ? is why the hell does mexico get a Rally ? .. Is Rallying that big in mexico ?

Rally is bigger in Mexico than it is here in the states(at least for the majority of people).

And as much as I'd love to see Toyota in rally again(the 6th gen rally car was what got me really into Celicas), they broke the rules and must suffer the consequence(sp?). The turbo cars have a blocker plate to restrict airflow and keep power at a lower level. Toyota was found to be using a false plate(it would slide away when it was reassembled), which got them banned from sponsoring rally cars.

Anyways, Monte Carlo was great. Speedchanel here in the states does 1 hour shows for each rally. Can't wait to see the local coverage(FIA took over an SCCA event here in eastern TN, though forest officials have sucky rules for spectators).

i am losing interest in rallying today- i miss the good old days of the 70's when rallying was arguably at its peak- you could still get somthing very close to what was on the "track' at a dealership still. Fiat Abarth 124 spyders and 131's, ford escorts, renault alpines, and the stunning lancia stratos... such desirable pieces of history now sadly...

Does any one else sees any resemblence between the Pegeot 307 and the Curren ST206 (Liftback with rectangular head lights)?
I believe its much better than the piece of crap 205 they used to use. The 205 was the no.1 car in sales for the last 3-4 years and i hate it when the WRC comes to Cyprus and all these guys with the 1.5 diesel van 205s in my country, race in the streets with 70bhp cars. mad.gif

My opinion is that if the car is not available commercially, it should not race in the WRC. For me its just a case of false advertising when the car companies race a commercial car when actually they have nothing in common.
