Looks very nice. How did you paint the "Celica" lettering?

Cheers guys, it's Krylon X-metals (purple), wanted something similar to HKS purple, this was the best I could find out of a tin.
They were green previous to this which was just standard ford signal green car paint and it lasted fine, no need for 'caliper' paint imo. Celica lettering is just sanded back to reveal the metal underneath. -------------------- |

the color is awesome, but im concerned with the temperature rating of the paint. Is it for calipers, most paints burn and get ugly at high temps.
If it is, thats a nice color. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL

I have the same paint on my valve cover. I'd say it'll probably be OK on calipers unless he's really doing a lot of hard braking. |

It is rated for 500 degrees, and as I say previously I have used normal auto paint on them before with no problems. Calipers arn't going to get any hotter than a GT-4 bonnet does above the turbo, and that paint is fine

that looks awesome, and 500 is actually fine paint. Good job.

Did you prime the calipers before painting them? I'm planning on trying it this week X-metals has a base paint, it's mainly for painting non metallic things, because the color coats are somewhat transparent. But, if you want that anodized look use the base coat too.thats the base |

It was your rocker cover that made me go for the x-metals
Yours looks a lot brighter in colour than mine though in the pic you posted? I primed mine with a high temp alu paint. Yes, CE28N wheels. This post has been edited by Rob_A: Jul 6, 2011 - 2:08 PM -------------------- |
