Alright so im boosting with my right foot not throttling off. At times in 4th gear i can remember maybe also 3rd it sounds like its throttling off and releasing the air through the BOV. Im not sure why, my foot isnt all the way down and the rpm is probably at a constant 4000rpm. I feel the turbo is throttling off thats all.
And knock gets up to high 50s when this does happen... -------------------- |

Cuts, had a drive tonight. Yeh you are right boost isnt steady. Drops back to 0 and pick back up to .5 constantly. This only happens on high gear (4) with low revs (2000) and arriving on boost (2900) on the ct20b.

Weird.
Hey when did you swap? PS. Sounds normal, mine does the same (always has on every turbo ive had ct20b, ct26, gt28rs) certain rpms, certain conditions it kinda hesitates similarly to what you describe, personally i think its more to do with traction.. is it a gt4 ur driving or a swapped fwd (would be even worse i imagine) aslong as it doesnt hesitate or buck while in a straight line on a smooth road with your foot to the floor, then its fine i think -------------------- Mike W

its rwd. Take a guess haha. Nah it coesnt hesitate or buck at all. Only thing that worrying me is my friend was pointing out the knock sensor on the powerfc saying if its over 58 i should be watching out...

I've heard of Hybrid 3s-gte/altezza beams setups, with the oil pan and pickup from the rwd beams for the upright position instead of the regular traverse tilted way, and it mates to the 6 speed gearbox...
Could be an Altezza? On the other hand I've heard of these setups being put in AE86's and other old Toyotas so.. Which is it? -------------------- Mike W

power fc is a totally different kettle of fish, could be anything.. the tune, the sensors, even the unit itself...
i wanna extract more power/boost from my turbo (gt28rs is in its full stride at 20psi) but nothing can beat the stock ecu for idle and knock control so im just running about 14 or 15psi -------------------- Mike W

stock BPV?
if so, make sure it has the little check valve installed with it. if not, order one from the dealer, dont use a generic one. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Can you do a vid of whats going on?
If the boost gauge is fluctuating most likely reasons are either compressor surge (yes this is real surge not the sttuu ssttuu you get when you back off) or the wastegate is playing silly buggers, or maybe there is a vacuum leak there somewhere (or the bov leaking perhaps) This post has been edited by Cuts_the_Pilot: Jul 5, 2011 - 8:04 PM -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Sounds a bit like compressor surge, what throttle opening is that? When it starts if you open the throttle further does it do it more/less/stop?
Has it always done it? Is that the max boost you run? does it do it on higher boost levels too? -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Na its not max boost is like 18psi, this is running at 14psi. Havnt tried higher boost levels. Its always done that... When i open throttle further its fine.
Thanks for your assistance, **** like this gets me worried =\ This post has been edited by whatthe: Jul 8, 2011 - 7:55 PM -------------------- |

Went for a drive just then and powerfc knock went up to 89....
I just want to cry... Im told anything over 58 is very bad. Same scenario mainly im going up a hill in 4th and foot down trying to pick up revs. And bouncing off in the boost gauge. Abit worse today, as i did that 3 times tonight, engine check like came on for a few moments and goes away again. Dont hear rod knock at all. Any help would be appreciated =[ This post has been edited by whatthe: Jul 9, 2011 - 1:12 PM -------------------- |
