so i think im going to finally paint the car on monday, nothing special, im just sick of it being a bunch of diffrent colors..lol the kids pointing and laughing as i drive by has gotten old. haha
anyway, got some things to do this weekend, i think im going to install the lotus skirts, depends on how much time i have. its going to get sprayed in white single stage (IE: cheap ) paint, of course ill make it mine by throwing some pearl in it, it will be super subtle, and you pretty much wont be able to see the pearl unless its in direct sunlight, and you really look at it, but thats kinda been the goal of the car, to keep it simple, clean and sleek, hence the duckbill and shave drip rails. the hybrid bumper was really more of just a practice thing to see if i could do it more than anything, but it came out well enough to keep, so i will. it needs a bit of repair from the winter, but nothing that cant be fixed. the lotus skirts are very tight to the body, no worries of cracking them like with the TRD skirts on the wifeys car. still on stock suspension, prolly will stay that way, im thinking of getting a 4 door car here soon anyway. i just want the car all one color at this point. lol -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

This car won't be like Dustin and steff's, it will be a great example of what a cheap paint job can do for a POS car, no major bodywork, no rust repair, anything like that, just a couple quick fix ups, sand, and paint. It's the kind of job that would run the average guy prolly ~5-800$, bringing it in like I am doing. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Won't get to paint it this week, hopefully I can meet up with mike this weekend and grab that rear bumper from him.
Bodywork is done, seam sealed the sideskirts for a cleaner look, I'm also on the lookout for a set of SSIII splitters if anyone has a set, PM me. If all goes as planned, I'll paint it on Monday. Thanks, Randy, getting there!! Putting those skirts back on reminded me how much I liked them in the old days!! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

I see your Celica in your pictures... Jenn's car next to it.. What's that little gem hiding out in the garage?

I see your Celica in your pictures... Jenn's car next to it.. What's that little gem hiding out in the garage? Thats cam's (ted95) car, I built him some intercooler piping and an exhaust b-pipe. The skirts are pretty rare. As far as I know there are only 2 owners on the site with them, myself and 97lestyousay. I was one of the 5 people that had them imported in a group buy in like 2004 or something, from a company based in AU. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Today I finally painted the car at work. Single stage, factory pack white. Just need to reinstall the bumper, and install the rain guards I've had stashed in the closet for a couple years. Lol At some point ill repaint the stock wheels, and am trying to get a set of ssIII splitters. A couple teaser till I reinstall the bumper. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Let me start by saying, good color choice. Personally I think these cars look best in white or red. (Or that wicked blueish green they came out with)
Is that a pre-facelift GT4 bumper or a SS-II bumper? I feel like a nub asking this, but I feel like I have never seen one before. ...That may be the bumper I'll be looking for when I do my 3S-GTE swap. Planning a front mounted intercooler and this looks perfect. (Don't want to swap the hood as I have nasty winters and I don't need salt going into my engine bay, nore do I want the extra attention in one of the highest crime rate cities in the US.) I chose to paint it single stage for a couple reasons, the main one being cost. The bumper is custom, I made it myself, out of the lower section of a gt4 bumper, and the upper is a stock gr bumper. Thanks! Got the bumper and little lip installed, Herr are a couple pics. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Lol yup, thats kinda the idea..to have it look like it could have come from Toyota like that.
It's not perfect, but it definitely fits better than any aftermarket bumper, and I am really happy with how it looks! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
