Hello all...
Obviously I'm new here, but I thought I'd start with a post about drag racing. I'm in the process of putting together an All Motor Street 6G Celica. I will also be competing in the NHRA Division 7 events that are local to me in SS/CS. The class index is 10.80 in the NHRA events meaning that it will require at least a 10.30 to qualify for a large national event! I'm sure eventually many of you will enjoy some of the pics that will surface of the car. Untill it's finished, it's best kept close to my chest. The car I'm going with is a '94... If you are interested in the All Motor Street class, there is a big event coming up at Old Bridge Raceway in Englishtown, Nj. on Oct 1-2. A link to the classes facebook page can be scene here--->http://www.facebook.com/pages/All-Mo...0721340?ref=ts Post up if you're into drag racing! |

really? you plan on getting a 6GC in the low 10's? how about you pass over what you are smoking. I have been racing for years and its no easy feat getting in the 10 second club. the 6GC is heavy! and FWD!, you need some serious power and traction to get in that club. 700HP, E153, suspension, and good tires are a minimum.
just to give you a baseline, i race in the IDRC every event at Fontana. sometime in the Supra and sometimes in my 7GC. my 7GC is making 550 to the wheels and on MT Street radials i ran a 12.0 @ 124 MPH. -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

You would have to shave the weight for sure. There are all motor Honda's in the 10's all day with about 340 to the wheels but they also only weigh about 1600 to 1800 lbs.

I understand that some of you guys are sceptical, but it won't be the first 10sec. fwd I've built. Minimum weight has to be 2150lbs. Engine displacement limit is 164cu.in. for the NHRA class and slightly larger for the All Motor Street class stuff (2700cc max). The engine of choice is the 2RZ from a Tacoma mated to an E153 with 152F gearing... In due time you guys will see what exactly it takes to make it all happen! Things like Cosworth Pectel SQ6 ecu, 15:1+ compression, 15mm.+ intake valve lift, 64mm. ITB's, CNC ported head, etc... Most of which are already in place since I build the 2RZ engines for other applications already.

Well if you can make it happen go ahead. i think just about anything is possible (with the right funds that is) i'm actually interested on what you have in the works if you can make it happen, don omar made a 7.5 second one so it is possible just ridiculously more expensive than on other cars. here's a link to his 7.5 sec 6gc i say keep us posted just don't think its gonna be easy.
edit: also the reason so many people are skeptical is cuz every once in a while we get a new member joins the site claims he's gonna do something similar and then adds up the cost and backs out. its not a basic project anyone can do (i know my celica will never be that fast) but from that last post you seem more likely to succeed than some of the other people claiming they will do that. my 2cent. Pretty much this. With 550 rwhp, even if you cut slicked rwd 60' times you still only have the MPH for probably low 11's, maybe high 10's if you're an awesome driver. Usuall in my experience you need to push the upper 120's to get anywhere into the mid 10's. I looked at a bunch of pics.... they all have something in common, they all weight about 1000 lbs less than a 6gc. I just noticed cause I have a set laying around in my garage. I'm right there with you 700+ is too much. The 500rwhp range i think is a good range for a street car. -------------------- -93 Rx7, Turbo 6.1L v8, 725rwhp/760rwtq
