Hey guys, I was just wondering would it be possible to replicate the GT4 hood vent on the stock OEM ST204 Hood? I dont want to do a GT4 front end conversion until I get a manual celica. I've seen this question on old threads, but they're really outdated, with no image sources.
QUOTE Jgreening - Cut a perfectly sized hole in the OEM hood and buy the GT4 center vent. Drill the holes for the studs and presto - I have a vented hood for my really hot engine bay. The only question I have is can the GT4 vent be bent slightly to flow smoothly over the rounded OEM hood (unlike the GT4 hood which seems to be flat where the vent is)? So has anyone been able to do it and made it look flush, and could you provide a picture please?

wow this sounds like a major pain. the gt four hood has a recessed area where the vent sits.
the vent itself is pretty thick about 3/8 inch. you would have to cut it very close to the outer contour size then have some sort of backing plate to sandwich it together, this would be iffy at best. if you drill holes and mount the vent directly to the hood it is going to stick up 3/8 of an inch or so. I would be interested to see a photo of one close up. here is the back of the vent closer view of mounting area -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

thanks look alright only because the vent isn't placed completed deeper into the hood like oem. I want to see how he got it molded. I'm sure just about any body shop with experience can attain this. can't even pm him he hasn't been on in 3 months...
I don't want the vents that go behind the suspension towers or the small air hole thats supposedly cools the oem gt4 3sgte timing belt. I only want the gt4 exhaust hood vent.
