Hello all,

Well I am extremely active on the other celica boards celicatech, and at.net. Someone said I should share this info here, as you guys might be interested... It's kinda-sorta a group buy, meaning I need to put in all the names at one time, but there's no # we have to reach to get the deal.... Here's what I posted over on alltrac.net (edited to not bore you all)

OK,

So I have been in the market for a VIS CS style hood for about a year. The recent group buy thread (which I hope to get a fuel pump out of), kind of spurred my interest...

So I contacted a VIS wholesaler buddy of mine in Cali.

He said that they don't stock much in the US anymore due to the economy, and either build to order, or stock in the US to meet demand... well the demand for the Celica has been pretty low, so they don't stock much, and in fact have ZERO CS style hoods in the US.

So, he offered me a deal. If I want to pre-order (and pay) for the next batch of hoods (due 1st or 2nd week of April), he is willing to offer a price of: $400 +$145 shipping.

I asked if he'd be willing to offer this to my buddies, and he said "sure"

Now here's where it applies to all of you

I then asked if he'd be willing to offer the discounts on their other celica hoods, and he said "sure, here's the price"

90-93 CS/RC style Hood (90TYCEL2DCS-010c) $400.00
90-93 The All Trac style hood (90TYCEL2DAT-010C) $400.00 this is not a regular vis manufacture, so quality is not that good. (his words not mine)
90-93 The OEM style Hood (90TYCEL2DOE-010C) $350.00 (this is like the non-all trac celica with no scoop/vent)
94-99 Celica OEM style hood (94TYCEL2DOE-010C) $350.00. (this is the base US model hood, they do not make an ST205 style)
2000-2005 celica OEM style Hood (00TYCEL2DOE-010C) with raised center scoop $350.00

Shipping is $145 within the continental US, or if you wish to pick it up at VIS in City of Industry, California, there's a charge of $25.

Now, I am not a vendor... I am not making a profit on the hoods... I am just sharing the deal I found.

I asked if he would offer a discount with volume purchases, and he basically said "don't push it, you're getting the best discount already"
Shipping will be per-hood. They do not offer combined shipping on hoods as they have a contract with the shipper (so no "If I buy 3 hoods, can I get a break on shipping?"). Sorry for those of you in other countries, but the $145 price is for the lower 48.

As he's basically offering a "buddy" price to the group, he's asked if I could do all the organization, and then send him a list of E-mail addresses and he will then invoice you all individually.

So this is kind of a Pseudo Group Buy Meaning we don't need to hit any target number to get the discount, but we do need to send him the list of customers all at once... I've already have 4 hoods on the list. I figure I will keep this open for 2 weeks (close it on 3/15) Send him the list, so you should have an invoice on 3/15 or 3/16. Sound good?

If you'd like to be added to the list, shoot me a PM with:

Screen name:
Hood Type: (Please use part number and description)
Paypal E-mail address: (I will not publish this, but need it for the distributor)

He will only ship to paypal verified addresses. Too many "I didn't get my hood" scams.

Now, to you moderators... I read the rules, and it said by "contact me before group buys" and I did... but didn't get a response and saw the moderator hasn't been active in like 9 months... so I just went ahead.

I think I have answered all the questions I can think of. If you have more, please let me know. I will update this as people are added to the list. So far we have 6 over on AT.net.

OK, the "better price" I was speaking about was because someone pointed out VIS hoods on E-bay for the 6th gen that are cheaper... We spoke to VIS, and here's VIS's response (on friday night, away from work) "There is no way that he's selling VIS hoods for that price... that's below what we sell wholesale... So those must be knock-offs" He's going to check on monday to see if that seller even has an account at VIS

The only pictures I can get are from VIS's website here:

VIS's website showing their hoods

And the "zyclone" and "Invader" style CF hood would be $400

Here's a review I found from a vendor's website:

VIS hood review

As I am not a 6th Gen guy, I don't have any pictures I've collected on the 6th gen...

Here's what I am getting for my 5th Gen... These are from a review done on AT.net

4 days left..

I got a PM asking about the underside of the hood. They are black Gel coated with skeleton, and while I can't find a pic of the underside of this exact model, I have found pics of the underside of other VIS hoods, so they will be similar

And local pickup will be done at VIS's warehouse in City of Industry, CA. So these are not knock offs like are often found on E-bay.

For you 6th Gen, theOEM style hood is: $350 + $145 shipping to lower 48
The "zyclone" and "Invader" style are $400 +$145 shipping to lower 48

Factory OEM style:

Zyclone Style:
