I have been eliminating various noises from my car for sometime. Up until now, all issues have been diagnosed and cured. I am now left with a strange ticking noise coming from the area around the throttle body/intake manifold/transmission. I am not definite on which it could be.

The ticking is consistent at idle. When I give it throttle, the ticking accelerates, as expected. If I give it too much throttle to quick, the engine bogs down, but continues to run and levels out.

More importantly, when the clutch is disengaged (my foot is on the pedal) the noise stops. When it is engaged (foot off the pedal) the noise resumes.

I can't come to a conclusion. Please help.

If it matters, I just installed a new clutch, but the noise has been there since before.

Did you just replace the throw out bearing as well?

I replaced the flywheel and ring gear, friction disc, pressure plate and input shaft bearing.

On a related issue, my car acted out today. For a moment, after I shift up, when I had already engaged the clutch and was givin it throttle, the car would rev up like it was in neutral. There was no momentum gain, the rpm would just shoot up. I shift up again and the problem still occurred. After shutting her down and starting it, the problem subsided.

Its your throw out bearing, you need to replace it.

The throw out bearing presses on the prongs of the pressure plate disengaging the clutch, I would also check you clutch fork for proper free play.

Is there a way to post pictures directly off my phone? Is like to show you what I replaced. I have a picture of my tranny from when I took it off with the new parts on it.

partznet.com, lithiatoyotaparts.com, toyotapartseast.com are all good places.

Release bearing, input shaft bearing, throw out bearing. To-may-to, to-mah-to. Same thing by a different name. As long as its the bearing that sits in the clutch fork, it's the same one.
