did you do anything to the engine before you put it in? perhaps there is something mechanically wrong with it +1 Timing belt off perhaps? Individual cylinder compression? Valve clearances Im calling the autoparts store near your house tomorrow and putting a diagnostic computer on hold for you LMAO This post has been edited by Special_Edy: May 2, 2012 - 10:34 PM |

I checked the timing the night it was brought home
All the timing marks lined up. Im going to see how she acts now that all the codes are cleared Since before i cleared them i would get a small backfire/missfire when revving to redline at wot After i reset the codes no more bf/mf -------------------- 95 gt coupe, v6 swap weekend toy

Im going to see how she acts now that all the codes are cleared Since before i cleared them i would get a small backfire/missfire when revving to redline at wot After i reset the codes no more bf/mf Lean condition could cause the misfire i/e fuel pump not supplying enough fuel at high rpm. Or MAF sensor malfunction. All this will be clearly visible on the Scanner tool. Just do some googling on how to interpret the data. Id be looking at long term fuel trim @ idle and short term fuel trim @ high rpm/WOT that and make sure ur MAF readings are consistent/proportional through the throttle range. Make sure to set a custom list of data instead of the entire data list. The fewer parameters the scanner is displaying the higher the tick rate( the more updates per second). Viewing the entire list will make it update slow. The graph function will help out alot especially with the MAF and O2 sensors Just some stuff to get you started. |

flashing CEL is severe misfire. and being 1, 3 and 5 means is something on that bank. you might have a leak somewhere.

continuously flashing? or just on occasion? Everytime I've had a cel and it flashed for about 30 seconds and then stopped, it was the computer recording a new code and it was telling me about it.
not to say the above is wrong... just my .02 This post has been edited by ricochet1490: May 3, 2012 - 12:31 AM -------------------- |

you sir are correct... that is where they are indeed.
Your problem here is obviously bank related. To fire, we need spark, fuel and air.... If for a moment we assume the fuel situation is good (and not made worse by this other fpr), and we assume that the air is good (it only has one way in and if the maf was bad the other bank would misfire as well), and we exclude things like exhaust because it would run open piped... not well, but it would do it without misfires.... then that leave one of two things.... 1) Spark isn't getting to that bank, something in the wasted spark system not working either physically or wiring might be bad 2) combination of spark/a/f is wrong. Maybe spark is 180 out? maybe timing way off? I can think of nothing gasket wise that would cause a misfire like that. Maybe the cams on that bank only? IDK, but test the spark, see if it's there, see what your plugs look like. IF that checks out, maybe go back to fuel? But for peace of mind I'd check timing (both exhaust and intake) because there are a lot of cams in this motor and if even one of them was off it would cause you massive problems. Bigger job, but this new problem with the flashing CEL came after you adjusted and changed the fuel pressure.... which likely made it worse by the sounds of things. Check your codes with your obd2 port, but it's ONLY ever been that bank.... check things that are bank specific, not generally specific like fuel and fuel pressure.... -------------------- |

Oh and 1,3 and 5 means that bank one as a whole is misfiring
Bet you a chocolate covered doughnut that bank one O2 sensor is bad. Either cam timing on bank one is wrong, or the O2 sensor is bad This post has been edited by Special_Edy: May 3, 2012 - 1:42 AM |

O2 sensor wont throw a flashing CEL. cam timing might be out, have you done a compression test?
