I've driven one. I have nothing but good things to say about it. My only gripe is the speedometer is worthless, but the digital readout makes up for it. Power is underwhelming, but the sound and the feel are more than enough to make up for that.
might have one before the end of the week... This post has been edited by 95CelicaST: Aug 14, 2012 - 2:37 PM -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

The consensus I have gotten from people that have driven them is that they are way too low on power to be worth the $25k price tag.

Haven't seen a car commercial like that since the 90's. Only thing wrong was the "music" selection.

It's handling capabilities surpass anything on the market at the price point - and then some. Haven't seen a car commercial like that since the 90's. Only thing wrong was the "music" selection. That and the FR-S weighs 2,758 with the manual, so it's much lighter than the others. It'd be a tough choice if I had the money, would just have to drive them all extensively first. Just from what I've seen I like the FR-S quite a bit though.

Not everyone values a car based on horsepower. It's handling capabilities surpass anything on the market at the price point - and then some. Well if you are looking for handling you can pick up a miata for much cheaper ... Also the Genesis makes 75 more hp and about twice the torque as the FRS. EDIT: I have not driven one yet so I suppose I should not be commenting...But the NA 4cyl boxer was a stupid choice IMO. This post has been edited by SupraKid: Aug 14, 2012 - 7:12 PM |

But you would have to wake up every morning to the fact that you drive a Hyundai. The only thing worth anything from Korea right now is her: I could buy a Miata for cheaper, but I already have a 2-seater that would beat the pants off of a Miata. FR-S has four seats (if you're hauling midgets, but four nonetheless), more power than the Miata, better fuel economy than the Miata, it doesn't have the reliability of a Mazda (read: wet napkin), and doesn't look like poop..... like the Miata. And I'm not gay, so no Miata for me. Darn. Serioiusly, go find someone with a BR-Z/FR-S and drive it. Then come back. I want one then immediately turbo it lol. Kinda retarded tho, buying a brand new car and voiding the warranty right away. Guys are making 270+ whp at 10 psi. Stock is 161 whp. Complete turbo kit is around $5k.
270 whp would be so fun in a 2800 lbs rwd car with great handling. |

lol I can go buy a $400 POS geo metro and have "fun". I just personally think the car is overrated, but that is just my personal ignorant opinion.

I think a lot of it is you don't see handling on paper, aside from a skid pad rating. You can put horsepower, weight, mpg, etc... on paper. It's something that can be visualized, and is easier to grasp without actually experiencing it in person. At least that's my take on it. Lots of cars can be fun, and for different reasons. It's just depends on what you want in a car. If they could manage to get the FR-S down to say $2,000 under the Genesis and Camaro, it'd go a long way with helping it I believe. The auto FR-S gets 25/34, and the manual gets 22/30. Don't quite understand that one, but ok.

gear ratios are different between the two. Well yes, but manuals have always gotten better than their automatic counterparts. Times, they are a changin'. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
