I think that there isn't as much hate on celica.net, due to the fact that they have a very liberal OT where they can let loose and flame, and nobody seems to be offended. I think we need some sort of uncensored OT, like celica.net.
their OT is a blast, ours is just so-so, no offense to any of the mods, but I think that OT should just become uncensored, maybe I'm just crazy --------------------

its just because the vision for the sites are different, we arent offended that you go over to c.net's OT to look at pron and make fun of people coomer uses 6gc as an advertising tool for potential clients, little stuff like that can sway a client from choosing him or someone else as a web designer for them.

Im the one who started the thread
I will be creating a new thread when I recieve all my information. What I can tell you now: The swap was successfull and the car did run (Durability, and handling I am unaware of) I was promised pictures when the car returns from the shop (Went back in due to paint on the hood) The swap was completed at Mario's shop in MD. If you are still a non-believer, I suggest you look them up and give them a phone call. (I know you want pics, but hows that for evidence) I was promised pics as soon as the car returns (scheduled return this weekend, so hopefully mon or tues i will have the pics for you guys) My own incite: I was looking at our engine bays, they dont seem quite as small as we think, my guess as to how he fit it was: removed AC condensor, remove radiator, replace with small sport radiator. Place battery in trunk Keep in mind he has nos so he probably already has some rebuilt radiator or some kind of engine rebuilding already happening ill keep u up to date when im up to date |

I fully agree with coomer there is no reason this site should not be sensored, first of all its his site, second hes working twords a productive board, and as much as you hate it repeating the same it cant be done followed by obsenities without useful information is anything but productive.

I believe in his previous post that he mentioned that he himself was apprehensive. This poor guy is just relaying info he was given for everyone on the site and he gets ripped a new one. |

Who ever swapped the 2JZ into a celica could have bought like 3 supras for that cost. If this swap turns out to be true, this persons stupidity is beyond the description of words.

you wouldn's say that if you saw a celica lift the front end off of the ground during take off. |

theres a mechanic for toyotas down here in florida who put a supra engine in a celica and was successful, he did major modification though . i think they had to cuz through the firewall and extend it. I have not seen it though, so i really cant beleive it to its full extent. But the person who told me is a very reliable source.

It was probably very costly, but would u rather have a supra or a celica with the supra speed why dont u take a second and think about that, roll up next to someone in ur supra is one thing, but a celica and i doubt it was the cost of 3 supras, i doubt even the cost of one supra in good condition, but then again i am not the installer, just the relayer ill see wut new info arose on monday
i dont, i still have my doubts, i did from the start but after recieving a shop name and a garuntee i am a believer and guys chill i only made this post to try to infrom of the further possibilities beyond 3sgte but if u wanna talk on aim i can get atleast get some peoplle to instant message u and tell u wut im telling u, nothing major but some proof better then no proof by the way i did try to provide a shop name and i am doing my best to get the full details of this swap, if it happened or not, how it happened, price, etc. EDIT: and another thing, isnt the celica lighter then the supra, thus being faster with the 2jz This post has been edited by celicagt94: Feb 22, 2004 - 10:19 PM |

yes, the celica is WAY lighter... but less structurally sound.
I am guessing it's not a turbo 2jz? |

A celica with a 2JZ will probably be pretty heavy... considering the Iron block 2JZ is pretty hefty... I'd say it'll put a 6th gen near 3 grand... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

Its good to hear that there are still people pushing the limits of the Celica as far as motor swaps go. It’ll be good to hear the swap is successful and if the guy did all the work and fabricate all his own parts/mounts then the price shouldn’t be that expensive.
But then again only time will tell. I really don’t see why the supra motor will not fit in the Celica. I remember seeing a movie about an 86 corolla with a 3 rotor Cosmo motor in it people said it couldn’t be done but it worked. Also I remember seeing a picture of a 3rd gen Celica/supra with a 7mgte or was it a 2jz motor in it. Also wasn’t it a while back on ebay some guy that was selling his 240 sx that had the RB26-DET motor swapped into it, and the 240 has a small ass engine bay. Also I remember seeing a local guy I from So Cal with a 1970 datsun 510 that also had a RB26-DET and a 454 big block in a 2100 pound car. So I don’t see why a supra motor will not fit in a Celica. Just need a lot of relocating of parts and fabrications. But like I said before only time will tell. This post has been edited by RedSunCelica: Feb 23, 2004 - 7:57 PM |

It's not whether the motor will fit... it's what parts he used to make it work. All of the swaps you listed, have the same configuration, so they're not hard swaps at all... using a FR motor/tranny set-up in a FF car, there will be some problems. Is the motor to be mounted longitudinally, or transeversly. If transverse, what tranny was used... what modifications to the bellhousing, how did he re-route the exhaust manifold (if transversely mounted, the exhaust will face the firewall with intake to the front). If longitudinal, then it must also be a RWD conversion... which is very hard and not particularly practical. What rear-end was used? Custom driveline? etc... It's the things like that which makes me very skeptical. The thing is, everything about this supposed swap is hear-say... which doesn't mean jack. People can say all they want, but pictures speak louder than words. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
