So when I bought my celica the motor on the power antenna didn't work and they had a wire clothes hanger on something jammed into it to fix the broken mast. I decided to just relocate the antenna all together so far I have about $80 involved in this upgrade but I messed up one of the adapters so I have to buy a new one. ( disclaimer: I don't know if this will work on a car without a sun roof)

Pics aren't the greatest took that at work ill.try to get some better ones later fair warning though pony up the Extra cash and get a universal antenna Metra's online catalog has them for sale I ended up spending a lot of extra cash cause I don't do my research and bought one that is supposed to be an OEM replacement for a newer optima lots of adapting involved whereas if you spent the extra you should just be able to drill the holes if I remember correctly I used a 3/4 but on the roof and a 2" metal holesaw bit from the inside so I would have plenty of room for the nut and socket

If you buy a universal you may not need any. But as I stated u bought one for a KIA Optima which takes a weird plug (very similiar to a GM mini antenna adapter) my antenna had a female end and wouldn't you know that's also what plugs into our stock antenna. I paid some guy at a local car audio place $25 to splice a universal end onto the antenna and then I had to buy a male to male extension online. Was less that 10 dollars. If you get a universal shark I would think at most you would need that male to male which buy the way was what I broke. I accidentally pulled the end of after testing the reception before mounting because I didn't realize I was standing on it

Out of curiosity, do you think a universal shark fin would fit over the original antenna location? Someone put a tacky generic on mine, can't do the S2000 mod. kindasad.gif

It's possible but if you do I would put a rubber grommet and possibly some 3m stick to make sure it Dosen't leak because the stock hole is kind of oval shaped

I looked at that one when I was going to turn my corolla into my show car. I couldn't say with absolute certainty though
The biggest headache for me was it didn't come with the nut to secure the mast and u refuse to pay KIA $7 in advance for a nut I can't see.
I have less money invested than the price of that antenna but if its drill a hole and plug it up I would have paid that happily..... Make sure if it needs a nut that it cones with one

Alrighty. Main concern was curvature of the quarter panel. Just tired of having my flappy rubber RC car antenna.

Probably wouldn't hurt to look into one of those nubby roof mounts that some.of the newer cats have if you worried about the curvature. You could always put a functional on the driver and a similar dummy on the passenger so the one Dosent look out of place

Will have to scour eBay once I have the chance. That or perhaps give a look around Wally World next time I'm there.

Checked Wally World and all they had were floppy generic antennas like I have. frown.gif I did find one on eBay that's meant for the VW Jetta for around $10 though. Only concern is finding one where the curvature of the bottom of the antenna will match the curvature of the quarter panel where the stock antenna location is.
