Hello All! I'm excited to announce that I too will be joining the small percentage of 3sgte swapped Celica's. I purchased my 3sgte engine clip yesterday "Friday", and will receive it this coming Wednesday. I'll start my swap the last week of January due to accrued vacation that I've earned at work. In my short time on 6gc I've spent my time reading up on similar swaps so that I could learn as much as possible. I don't think i'll be able to be up in running in two days like some of the gear-heads on this site, but I certainly hope that I have the privilege to post, and work with some of the masterminds that make this site so great.

The Car:

94 Celica GT. Currently with 224,000 miles on it. The 5s still runs like a top, but I originally purchased this car to complete a 3sgte swap. I was given the privilege of driving a JDM 3rd Gen Celica RC (right hand drive...the whole 9), and I've been in love since then.

I've owned two integra's. One GS-R, and the other a GS. I learned to love Honda, but have come to realize that Toyota is WAY better. I love my car and can't wait to get started.

I'll start updates and pics as soon as I get my clip.

Please feel free...I value your feedback, and understand that I know a fraction of the information that some of the great minds on this site know!

Well guys i feel like i let us down. Couldnt run faster than a 14 flat... too much wheel spin and not enough grip. .533 reaction time and 107mph over the line frown.gif

the 3sgte with a s54 trans is a 13 section track car and a 12 sec street car, dont let that time let you down.. on the streets from say a 20 roll you could argue for a 12 sec car..the cars dont do to well from a dig lol 107mph is just about a 12 section pass.. just wheel spin killed you.

my 3s/s54 beat a hatch that on the street that went 13.2 on the track to give you an idea.

14 flat isnt bad for its first time out, atta boy Ben!

The car caught up like a missile on everyone i raced, like you said Ted95...from a dig that gear ratio kills you. Beat a wrx automatic but couldnt beat a manual. These were non-sti's but i was catching up quickly.

Close to a half-second r/t is generally regarded as pretty fine, eh? Well done.

did a good job Ben, the car pulls good once you get traction. you will solve alot of that issue with a set of BFG's KDW2's in the front. those tires hook and make a big difference in first a second gear, as well as a few poly mods too. thats what im running and i love them.

yes! wider wheels and turn your boost down a smigen! when I went to the rock this spring I ran a 14.2 on 8lbs maybe 14 lbs will tame that wheel spin
because i could straight up launch with no tire spin on 8lbs

You want power but have no money. That's a problem.

Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick two.

Well guys I decided after the results that I put down at the track that it was time for some much needed suspension/handling/braking upgrades.

What I have:

Celica GT4 front calipers
Cadillac Catera Front Rotors

What I just bought:

XXR 530 et25 5x100 17x8.25's
73.1 to 54.1 hubcentric rings
project KIKS two step 40 gram lugs
d2 racing coilovers

Still debating on what tire size to run because I don't want an inaccurate speedometer, but I can't decide on the tire width...

What are your thoughs?

215/45/17's
or
225/45/17's
