Hi all,
I am looking for a lightened flywheel application for my 1997 celica ST 1.8L 7AFE I have to replace the clutch so I would like to upgrade the whole thing can anyone confirm which flywheels fit please thanks

I gave them a call great price for the clutch kit I spoke to dave john is on vacation and andy is not in today the have flywheels in stock but he is not sure which one will fit either they have for the 1zz and 2zz

If you need to get your car back on the road quickly, I would have to recommend just getting an OEM 7afe flywheel. It will cost you probably $50-$70 depending on where you get it. A lightweight flywheel will cost you significantly more, and I wouldn't even know where to find one. It's all a matter of prioritizing here. A stock flywheel will get you back on the road the fastest.

you are right I just figured if i have to pull down the whole trans. I might as well upgrade the flywheel as well as the clutch.

If I remember what Smaay said from some past thread, the clutch and pressure plates for the 1zz and 2zz will work with the stock 7afe flywheel - which is to say, everything lines up for mounting the pressure plate to the flywheel. I assume he also meant that the clutch disc itself mounts perfectly onto your C52 transmission's input shaft (appropriate diameter and number of splines) but I would DEFINITELY clarify that last bit before ending up with something which may be the wrong size. tongue.gif

I thought the C60 (1ZZ) is 21 spline while the C56 (7AFE) is 20 spline?

the C60 is the 6 speed that comes on the GT-S the C54 is the 5 speed on the 1ZZ GT.

the splines are the same. a 1ZZ/2ZZ clutch DISK will work on your 7A transmission. I have personally done this in Erynns car.

Not the advice he was looking for, and I'm wondering why you would suggest buying again what he already has? it just needs to be resurfaced...

my st205 is on its 4th clutch with the original flywheel machined every time, the only thing i would recommend is buying some new ARP flywheel bolts on every 2nd clutch job

Sometimes there aren't any machine shops that can re-surface flywheels and other times it costs just as much as a new flywheel

That makes no sense to me either, clutch&brake&transmission shops are just as important as mechanical workshops and autoparts stores

over here shops even advertise free machining as a way to lure you into buying your clutch from them...

Heh, since he was talking about getting a lightweight flywheel, I was thinking in terms of "getting a flywheel". Not exactly hard to read "Just go OEM if you really need it soon" out of that.

Also: 4A-FE Lightweight Flywheel. It is the 212mm diameter variety (I think the previous generation of 4A-FE and 7A-FE used a 200mm diameter). It has the 6-bolt crank pattern common to the 4A-C, 4A-FE and 7A-FE. 4A-GE flywheels are all 8-bolt, and won't work for this application. 1ZZ and 2ZZ flywheels are also 8-bolt as far as I know.

I understand that there is a lot more engineering that goes into making a flywheel light, which is why they're so expensive, but I don't understand why the difference is so large. A new, OEM-spec flywheel can be had for $50.

well i can now tell you that the Fidanza flywheel from a 7th gen will not work on a 7A-FE. the 1ZZ/2ZZ uses an 8 bolt flywheel and the 7A has a 6 bolt flywheel
