You use lukewarm warm. Warm enough to melt it slowly and not cause rapid expansion of the glass.

Also today, seeing as I'm probably stuck with the Celica trying to think what to do with it. Exhaust for example, I tire of not being able to hear the car. At the same time I don't want to drive a bumblebee either.

the Car got overheated because of the radiator rubber cap got stock (sh***ty cap don't ask) and all the water go off the reservoir, also notice the hose from the water pump to the engine is about to explode, I'll change soon, need a trip to Toyota dealer.

I started to walk into the house and I heard a pop then sizzling noise. I turned around to see geisers of smoke pouring out of every crack on the front end of my celica.
Moral of the story replace the $10 cap when in doubt, otherwise you could be spending a hell of a lot more money

My " simple " fan change became-- radiator, hoses & thermostat!!

aftermarket, from autovation. found them in an old 6gc post, and checked the autovation website and they still make them. found a discount code too.

tell me about it being there with the rust about 7 months, solve the problem with the rust and removed the thermostat since I'm in a tropical weather no need it, and since I'm waiting for my 20v blacktop I'll change the radiator for a better one.
for the moment just changing the cap and the hose

They came with the wording, unexpected surprise. According to the old 6gc thread I found, they apparently had stopped with the wording, but it seems to be back.

It should be noted that the radiator doesnt rust, it only collects rust from the engine.

Aluminum doesnt rust, only iron does, the block is made of iron and everything else is made of aluminum. If you are having a problem with rust, you are using too much water and not enough antifreeze in your coolant. You can backflush the radiator rather than replace it, except in extreme cases.

I also wouldnt recommend not using a thermostat. It's not designed specifically for the heater or for cold weather. The engine will suffer damage and poor performance under any atmospheric conditions if you dont have a thermostat installed.

Another thing most people overlook. Use DISTILLED water, not tap water. Tap water is full of minerals and all kinds of bad stuff that'll cause buildup and corrosion in your cooling system. It's only another dollar to get a gallon of distilled water and totally worth it.

Oh, I thought you meant the inside of the radiator. Sometimes I clean my bolts off in a jar of gasoline, and then wipe a dab of oil on the threads before I reassemble to prevent this from happening.
