Do you have pdf files for how to install the guage cluster l.e.d.s?

Hi,

I dont have any pdf files as my instructions are sold with my kits in the form of a booklet and my led's also have a simple but important difference to them that gives the instrument cluster a much better light spread and illuminates the needles properly.

I can give you a quick breakdown of how to simply swap the bulbs in the instrument cluster over though, its very easy. You will need a long phillips head screwdriver and a stubby one. :-) :

1. Adjust steering wheel to lowest position.

2. Grab plastic trim behind steering wheel and pull it off with a hand on each side.

3. Locate and remove the four screws holding the black plastic shroud to remove it.

4. Locate and remove the four screws securing the clocks.

5. Release the electrical connectors behind the instrument cluster

6. Install the LED's into the three largest green bulb holders by twisting them out and swapping the bulbs.

7. Make sure you test for correct polarity before refitting by plugging everything back in and switching the lights on, whatever one is not working needs to be removed, rotated 90 degrees, refitted and retested.

8. Refit everything as per reversal of removal in true Haynes style.

9. Sit in your car and gaze, awestruck at your accomplishment for a while but then realise that you would like the rest of your dash to match your speedo, that you may of even possibly bought the wrong LED's and that you now actually crave a full kit from Spree lol

omg haha I just reread my post, I entirely did not meant to say gauge cluster, but climate control instead xDDDDD. The climate control LED should be relatively easy to install? I'll be ordering soon.

Lol no worries.

The climate control on jap cars is pretty easy bit the hvac unit on the US cars is a pain in the neck due to the cables that have to be disconnected and the fact that the unit itself is more complex. I did manage to fit a kit without disconnecting the cables but it was still a pain. Its still doable though and all it means is that it takes longer to do. But we are still talking four hours max if you are really taking your time. I did it in the dark!

Hi,

Just to confirm that the backlighting is provided by three removable bulbs as you have shown in your picture. These are easily changed using my kit.

The button indication LED's such as the one found in the rear window demister button need to be unsoldered and the new LED's need to be resoldered in.

I do not provide these as my kit is intended as a DIY kit without the need to be any good at solderering. I feel that changing the backlighting colour gives a very satisfying result that will suit most people but I do understand that some will want to also change the button colour. I also do not have time to do this service for people.

In the UK I recommend these people to a guy on the UK forums who will do this as a service if you send him your unit for £20 ($32 ish) but I dont know about over your way. I can contact him for you though if you are really desperate? He does really good work.

Julian.

I went through your instructions, briefly mind you, but didn't see where this LED was used...?

That will be the one for the Ignition ring if yours lights up. If not then its a spare!

Aha!

I thought the ignition ring had to be wired up like the heater controls (where you match the LED wiring to the panel)... kewl!

Thanks!

ok cool, can you provide the extra led if i get your kit, i can solder it , piece of cake. I want to go to a different color, and have a new board that i do not want to solder. just the small one..

do you have this kit in orange, like the 2000+ newer celicas...
