So I'm gonna be doing some work to my st205 swapped Celica over the winter and I'm wondering how much I'd be spending to make 300hp reliably (I'm running a fwd setup). Can this be done on the stock turbo? I've heard they're unstable over 18psi. And would 300fwhp be attainable with the stock fuel system? I'm likely gonna upgrade to a fuel cell since my gas tank is leaking so I'll probably have to run a different fuel pump anyways. I'm also considering a mild cam to help up the power as well. I'm thinking about going with an aftermarket ecu as well but I imagine that would set me back quite a bit money wise. Any input would be much appreciated, I'd like to see what all you 3sgte guys are running on your builds! Thanks

Welcome, I've just shifted this over to the FI section

Might I suggest having a read through the list of project threads and look for ST/GT with swapped 3S-GTE's in the description

Also the 6GC FI dyno's, and that would give you an idea what mods are needed to reach your HP goal.

Lastly check out the suspension/handling section as imo, power is nothing without control, especially in a 300hp FWD.

Thanks for the info! I'm pretty new to this forum haha this is only my second post. I didn't even see that there was an FI category.

I did 340 hp with e85 on a gen4 3sgte but pulled it back to 315-320. It is do able on a 3sgte. Check out my threads:

You should be able to hit 300 to the crank with a few add-ons. Stock injectors I believe are in the ball park of 450cc, so on paper at about 80% duty cycle, you should be able to make about 350 on them. I'd suggest that at the bare minimum to send your turbo off for a re-fresh. Radium Auto makes a pretty badass fuel tank/cell. I think Scott is running one in his Celica.

I'm probably about 3 steps away from going full retard on my 2nd gen 3S build. lol

-Billet CT20B turbo from TurboBay
-ATS adjustable cam gears
-GSC valve stems seals
-GSC S1 Cams
-GSC Valve Springs
-1ZZFE Shimless buckets
-Devil's Own Meth injection
-Megasquirt PnP
-TiAL QR BOV
-3" exhaust
-Southbend Stage 2 Endurance on an S54

and some other tidbits. I'm a fuel pump and a set of injectors away from going Flex Fuel/E85.

I'm tempted to hit the junk yard to pull a 5SFE for the block, but trying not to put anymore money into than I already have. lol

I bet you could hit 300 with a good tune and a few supporting mods. I'm pushing into the 400+ range but my engine is fully built with lots of supporting mods including a larger turbo(Borg warner s256@17psi).

3" intake and 3" exhaust, and just about 18psi should net you right about 300whp on a 3rd gen in a FWD setup, repeatable on a dynojet over and over.
been proven a few times here, and is pretty typical.

both jim and dustin both made within 5-10whp with very similar setups, IIRC both have sheets posted in the dyno post thats in the FI stickys.

ngo, 3rd gen has 540cc injectors.
2nd gen has 440cc injectors.

300fwhp is easy. All you need is upgrade turbo ct21 and up the boost. Run a 2.5-3" exhaust srt up and you should be low 300fwhp easy. The stock GT fuel pump should be fine.

Getting 300hp is easy.

Main difficulty is making it reliable for how long? Do you want weeks? Years? Decades? All these will require different levels of supporting mods.

If you want most reliability with most overhead for future upgrades, start with programmable aftermarket standalone EFI system. Megasquirt is great. I like MoTeC or Electromotive TEC myself.

Yes should be easy, ideally get a good intake setup, 3'' exhaust system, alloy radiator, lag the charger cooler, and a ebc you should easily see that, i have a st205, and made 152kw atw on 15psi, now i have link ecu g4+ and all the support mods should see easy 180kw atws !!
