I just recently bought a running and driving 6G ST with a 3s-gte in it for a trade. I gave up my 92 NA MR2 stock clean with 140k miles on the clock perfectly running. I bought the car with some small issues that needed to be worked out like the code 52 and transmission needed to be rebuilt. Code 52 has been fixed and cleared but the trans still remains. I was wondering since this is a JDM 2nd Gen Engine in a Celica. Couldn't I just grab a ST205 GT4 trans (e154f)? Here the link to one I'm looking at (I call dibs!!!) http://www.ebay.com/itm/171196968722?ssPag...984.m1423.l2648 Couldn't I just get this drop it in and leave it running in FWD until I feel like doing the full swap? I leave some pics down below of the car before I got it and mods list.

Lol i submitted offer on that tranny 3 days ago. Anyways the transfer case distributes power to the rear. And capping it wont work. Youll lose power. You have to convert to fwd

its much easier to get the 5 speed from a 2000+ solara. it will be cheaper than buying a trans and the parts to convert it.

This. Or you can get another S54 and swap it in, but the E153 is more or less a FWD variant of the E154F and generally better geared for higher power 3S swaps, not to mention it's stronger than the S54.

So the e154f is outta the question as far fwd I don't get how it wouldn't work it being mechanical an all doesn't it just go through the gears like normal even if the shaft is connected or not? Also s54 is basically a NA trans and the E153 is a turbo Trans? Where can i get a E153 Trans cheap or can i?

The E154f transfer Case distributes the power to front and rears, in a 60/40 or 50/50. Can't remember. So you will loose power and the rear differential cannot be left open.

The e153 can be found.... Just not cheap. Supply and demand. They are in high demand, prepare to pay above 450 for non LSD and 800 plus for LSD...
