I have searched it at some point before, and I know that st202 exhaust systems can be fitted with an extra pipe at the engine side, but what is everybody's opinions of what would be a better option on the 5S; st202 or custom piping with generic mufflers?

I know the benefits of the branded systems are that they are specifically tuned for the best note on that engine, so does it just defeat all of the benefits using it on a 5S? And also, ideal diameter for the 5S is 2.25 inch, I assume most 3S-GE systems are 2.5?

It would make it ready for a BEAMS swap though... hmmm... wink.gif

Pfft tuned.

Shortest path, least bends, 2.25" for NA, 3.00" turbo.

For NA spend least money possible, it's just not worth it.

All your getting is sound, freeing up 5hp in the top end isn't going to be noticible. Will just sound sound fast.

Seems a bit odd imo if you've bought an exhaust system, and have had to go to a muffler shop anyway to get additional piping done for it to fit?? but that's just me, haven't run into problems about lack of aftermarket parts for the ST202, as much as people with the 5S/ST204's

Other benefits of a branded exhaust system, designed specifically for that car/engine, quality work, direct bolt on. From memory there aren't 2.5" systems for the 3S-GE, they range from 2.25" to something odd like 2.35".

Well if you buy a 3S-GE exhaust system to fit a beams or fit a beams later on, you're going to have to use additional piping aswell, as the beams 4-2 extractors and/or 2-1 b pipe are/is shorter. Going off websites "will not fit beams" or "additional parts required". People haven't measured it on here, its guess work off photos.

from what the above guy said, its not a complete direct bolt on, requires some additional pipe to finish it

I'm planning to upgrade my exhaust and I'm looking for double muffler with 2.5 piping, the only problem is that we have a top of 98 decibels to pass the annual inspection.

should I go with silencers instead of Megan Racing N1 or OBX B10 because it could go to loud with the piping ?

what else do you recommend, I know double does nothing but the looks but I always like the dual exhaust

Things that quiet down an exhaust:

Catalytic converter, Resonators, OE-like mufflers

Things that restrict airflow:

Catalytic converter, OE-like mufflers

Things you should put in your exhaust to quiet it down:

As many resonators as you can fit.

on another note, take a look at this 1996 ITR bpipe setup. Better and smoother flowing than the 3sge beams motor:

vs 3sge/3sge beams b-pipe

Heat shields removed

vs

oem 3sge header attached with hks b-pipe. see smoother flow this is the most you'd probably get ot of a beams design. well bolts on without doing a custom header for beams...

vs

Custom made b-pipe from a beams member in Panama (the transition from 2-1 can bit smoothed out a bit but good execution)

Good info Bonzai (y)

I have a C-One exhaust system being shipped for my BEAMS, but for now this is the setup on my ST204;

-Hurricane Headers
-200 Cell 2.25" High flow catalytic converter
-2.25" bullet style resonator (12" from memory)
-PROF JDM muffler (baffled) 60mm (2.3") in, 100mm out.
-2.25" crush bent piping the whole way (but neat)

Then a 2" bullet muffler added to cut down on the raspyness.
