Also smaay. You think you can enlighten this? I would've asked K-ESD but he's not active for the past 10 months. The Sienna fuel pump is bolt on. But he didn't say which Sienna? Do you happen to know this answer?

QUOTE (K-ESD @ Aug 28, 2006 - 3:18 PM) *
This engine uses a returnless fuel system, basicly a ordinary fuel pump with the regulator inside the tank. I adapted this system by swaping out my 5SFE pump for a sienna pump (bolt on, plug and play), hacked off a section off the steel return line next to the pump, strapped on the regulator and Tee-d the main line to the return line on top of the fuel pump cap.

Im not sure what he did, i cant follow what he said. I dont think there is a difference in sienna pumps. i think what he was describing is converting the fuel system to returnless. Maybe the Sienna assembly is P&P on the celica. I dont know. I made my own fuel system

get familiar with the harness. there are a bunch of plugs for the automatic that you dont need. I used a Camry harness and opened it up completely and ran only the wires that are needed.

If you send me the Avalon harness and a celica harness I can build it for you

sorry just saw this. Im using the engine mount on the front of the engine, i just cut off the part that bolts to the camry frame. I also had to get a 3MZ bracket for the PS pump. toyota changed the location of the timing belt tensioner from 1MZ to 3MZ so you need to get either a 3MZ PS pump, or just the bracket if using a 1MZ pump

This swap can be done right for 2000-2500 easy of ypu just want to do the stock swap an if ypu gpt yhe topls the mounts ate easy to make

If I do get this done I bet I can do it for under $1000 CAD. That's my goal.

Also when I mated the 1mz TB to my custom intake on the 5s I had to make a bracket with a offset in it so the TB would open fully. I can duplicate these easy. I'll post a pick of the bracket if any one is interested.

One more thing. The vvt is that like a vtec . And if so what is different about the vvt-i.
A friend of mine had a crx and he had a switch/button hooked up to the vtec solenoid so he could engage it at any time basically. I remember it was crazy fast when he pushed that button at around 4500 rpm. Just an idea.

VVT is nothing like VTEC.

VVT means the valve timing is variable. it changes with the conditions of the engine.

VTEC is similar to LIFT in the 7th gen celica GT-S. its a different cam profile that is engaged at a certain RPM.

Regardless if you had a 3MZ with a vvti in it then you could control the cam lift manually with a switch connected to the solenoid. No?

There is no lift on a 3MZ. Only the 2ZZ got VVTL-i, every other engine is just VVT-i.
