hey guys,
as some of you know, and for those of you who dont, ive had a problem with my turbo setup burning oil for some reason since i installed it. i thought it was PCV routing, so i tried a couple diffrent setups with no help to the problem, and decided i needed to get a catch can to stop it. while thinking about the problem, and trying to diagnose it with a few of the guys, i came up with the theory that maybe i was overfeeding my turbo oil. the thought behind it being that with the stock 3s setup, there is a banjo-bolt, which basicly creates an "in-line" restriction to the turbo. So, i talked it over with Arron from ATS racing, and a few of the guys i talk to regualrly, and decided to try it. i went to www.atpturbo.com , and bought the "T" series in-line oil restrictor. it looks like this: i added it in-line, between my T fitting for the head, and the oil feed line. needless to say, ALL the smoke is gone. ALL of it. i have my PCV basicly hooked up as normal, with the actuall PCV valve line going to the intake manifold, and the other to an intake source pre-turbo, and it does not smoke AT ALL. i think this may be alot of the problem with some of the setups out there right now, especially you guys with T series turbos on the 7A. from what ive seen on dustins car, the 7A oil pressure tends to be a tiny bit higher than on the 5s while driving, which makes sense, cause the "smoking" problem tends to be worse on the 7A. also makes sense that you guys keep blowing turbo seals too. i think i got lucky with not blowing the seals on mine, it was a very good rebuild by aaron that saved my A$$ on that one. so, some food for thought guys, what do you think? -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

i think you are very smart for not just thinking the catch can would solve it all and finding the real problem.

how much pressure are u supposed to run in the oil line to the turbo? Possibly a gauge and an adjustable valve might not be a bad idea?

too late for me. Your so right. I blew a seal on my turbo and had to fix it. i needed a restrictor on my line. this helps reduce the oil pressure on my crank case too right? just if i knew what to do i could still have my turbo. now its gone from my 7A.
Did anybody else run the oil line from their oil pan? -------------------- -97 Celica ST
