Hello everyone!

I just randomly won an auction for a Celica SR on eBay and only ended up paying £350 with 12 months MOT and no advisories.

I'm coming from a 2004 Yaris 1.3 vvti so it's nice to have a little extra power and there's already an exhaust on it, man the 7afe sounds sweet!

Here she is...

I really had to clean it up because it was pretty disgusting but worth the elbow grease. It needs a cam belt and I'm not quite sure if I should tackle it myself or not.

Happy to finally be a Celica owner! smile.gif I'll probably keep this until my next insurance change in Feb and then get a GT.

Welcome! Looks like a very nice car for very little money, well done! If you're good at following instructions and have some mechanic ability you should be able to do the timing yourself, aside from being transversely mounted making it harder it's a good learning opportunity since the 7A is non interference so there's not the stress of getting it wrong and trashing the engine.

I decided to get a garage to do it after doing some research about the cam belt change.

Some more pics:

Wheels need refurbishing, front bumper needs respraying and scratches on the rear right need sorting out.

Today I had to modify a corroded exhaust bracket after I noticed the hanger wasn't even connected.

I'll tell you what... cleaning 21 year old parts is no joke biggrin.gif

Before:

After:

Also the throttle was sticking a little so I cleaned the throttle body today.

It's idling high after this, does anyone know the procedure for idle relearn on a Celica AT200? smile.gif

Before:

After: (this was as clean as I could possibly get it)

http://www.6gc.net/howto/reset_your_air_fuel_ratio

Though that may not help as I tried it after the following; I had the same issue after cleaning my throttle body and IACV, I could've swore it had a vacuum leak so I redid the gaskets like two or three times and on the third time I gave up. After driving it though it seemed to settle down to where it was before. Also make sure the A/C idle up circuit isn't disconnected now.

Ah thank you so much for your reply! I'll give it a try and if I have no luck then perhaps there's still some carbon build up around where the throttle plate is. Either that or I'll drive it for a while and see if it settles.

I tried it... I actually thought it worked...but then it turned out the throttle cable was also too tight! biggrin.gif

Nice! I probably would have done it black, but clean is better!

Yeah I was thinking about doing the valve cover, heat shield and intake manifold all black... perhaps I still will.
