Get a GT if you can.....ummm.....and good choice of car, if you ask me. As long as you dont expect it to be really fast then you will like it.

Make sure you purchase a carfax report at carfax.com or something similiar in that nature. Take it to a mechanic prior to purchase to just be sure you arnt paying for something that needs a lot of work or if you are you can get a cheaper price. Check under the car for rust, see how much tread are on the tires, test drive the car on and off the free for atleast 20 min or so to get a good fell of it, make sure everything works (I bought my celica only to learn my cd player was busted, and couldnt do anything about that), also remember toyota's are good cars if they were treated good.

you are not gonna get a 98-up for that price. Mine had 48000 miles and after taxes it was $15,000+ It's a GT hatchback.


Aim for a 94 or 95. Try getting a loan through the dealership or a bank. Then you will get a later model.


Try getting one that has the upgraded sound system and low miles.

I don't really care about later models, all im aiming for is a cheap 94 or 95. Im only going to have 7k at the most =( Then I will hopefully have enough money to throw a nice body kit on it. One more question, would a car with over 100k miles be worth the buy?

That carfax is a good idea...because when I recently got my car painted, the guy that painted it said the only thing that wasn't repainted was my roof...and it was apparently in a pretty nasty fender bender...the right fender was replaced before, and there was a dent in my left fender that he popped out.

So yeah, get the VIN off the car, go to carfax, and use that against them at the dealer to get a lower price...

I agree...this is the best advice for ya...I bought my car and it turned out to basically be a "lemmon"...If i still had the money that i put into the car for repairs i could have done an engine swap twice...and prolly had enough for a body kit after that....

toyota's run pretty much forever, so getting one with 100,00 miles isn't a bad thing, it might help lower the price on it too. But I agree with the rest, take it to a qualified mechanic to look it over before buying it.

the car can last you at least 7 years or more at 100,000, it all depends on how you maintain it.
