I have a friend that is looking to do a engine swap from a 90 celica to a different Toyota car. The engine in the car now is a 4cyl, 1.4 litter, and the celica engine is a 4cyl, 1.5 litter. Does anyone know someone in the missouri, or illinois (around St. Louis) that might be able to do this. We took it to one guy and he said 500.00 bucks then came back and said it cannot be done becouse the engine is a different litter size. I belive it can be done just all electronices have to be put in.
Let me know if someone wants the job or knows someone local that can do it. Jason |

you have it backwards, the celica motor is the 1.4L 4AFE, the 1.5L is the paseo motor i believe, they are actually the motors going into the Scion Tc, just an upgraded version, the 4AFE is not a smart swap.

the new scion has the same engine as the paseo? that engine is like 10 years old, I wouldn't think that the xb or xa would have a 10 year old engine

Heh, maybe thats why the cars are so cheap. The engines are probably cheap to produce.

They were using the 5sfe till a few years ago and its just as old, the engines must be good designs, theres no point in developing a new engine with little gain just to say its a new engine, is there?

ok.... wow, a LOT of confusion here... 4a-fe is a 1.6L... the only "current" A series motor under 1.6 was the 5a-fe, and as far as i know it was available only in japan... a 1.5L
the 1.5L in the paseo is the same as in the tercel... either a 4e-fe or a 5e-fe, i believe (and of course, their turbo counterparts in japan....)... the scion xa and xb use the same motor as the current echo.... which is a 1.5L vvt motor (i believe a ZZ, could be wrong there)..... figure out what motors you're figuring to use first and what the old one was.... |

xA and Xb have the same engine as the Echo, which has the a slightly updated, but same engine as the Tercel, which has basically the same engine as the EP Starlets overseas... 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 liters... engine code 3EFE (1.3), 4EFE (1.4), and 5EFE (1.5). The Echo/Xa, Xb use the 5EFE... the Starlets use the 3EFE/4EFTE and the Tercel uses the 5EFE... There were also other E seires used in the EP starlets, which were the 3EC (SOHC Carb) and 4EFE (non-turbo)...
The Tc should be using the 2.4 liter 2AZFE... This post has been edited by Kwanza26: Mar 11, 2004 - 12:41 AM -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"

Completely different block design. It's the new replacment for the 5SFE... however, it feels exactly like a 5SFE... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
