Could somebody please photoshop a pic of a projector black? I have mine apart, doing the lhd conversion, and was thinking of painting the inside black, to match the rest of the car. I would like various chops of the chrome pieces done to see how they would look. Both highs and lows if you could.

I have pics if you need them, but there are plenty floating around the site.

IMHO... (I know you don't want to hear it but...) painting high beams is nonsense. Inside must be like mirror for proper working...

I was nervous as sh!t to open them, but now that they are open I am thinking of doing something to them, just to be unique.

But yea, after thinking about it for the past few days I dont think it would be such a good idea after all. In both the highs and lows, the chrome would act as a reflector, reflecting the light from the back/sides of the projector housing onto the road. Painting it black would absorb the light, making the lights useless.

Please let me know what you guys think of it. I was thinking of taking a bit out of rev. 2 on the accent light side, so it doesnt look so lopsided. Any input of how I should "blend" it where the black part meets the curves of the accent part would also be appreciated.

Thats pretty much what im going to do with my projectors when i get them. Because im opening those anyway to make the lhd conversion. It just looks so rare when its black and atleast in a silver celi it gives also a nice contrast. Think its gonna match with cf hood pretty nicely too. wink.gif Ill let you know as soon as i get my hands on a set maybe in next month.

Atleast in one of my friends tiburon it didnt make any difference and he painted them all black.

You're both right and wrong...Only the rear part of the high beam is the "mirror" or reflector part. I spoke with romas and he confirmed that there is 2 pieces inside the high beam housing. There is the outer sruuound piece (the part shocker painted on his) that is just a large cylindrical part, and the reflector piece has all the angles and curves.

As I just mentioned the high beams are reflectors and not projectors. With projectors (both halogens and HIDS) all you will see is the half sphere glass in the housing (3rd gen integra have these). Projectors dont need to reflect the light off anything to emit it, as it "projects". I believe the proper term for the high beams is "clear lense reflector"

Which ones do you guys like (rev 1,2,3) and would it look better if I took a bit off the accent light side?

Oops, my bad, I misread your post. I thought you said the lowbeam reflects the light off the back of the housing...

Rev 3 has a little black strip going around the outer edge of the accent area. It is hard to see in the pics, but I think it helps "balance" the painted area.

Looking at rev 3 pics w/o the glass, you can see a small gap at 2 and 5 o'clock (if the housing was a clock). The gaps are very tiny, but if you look closely they are visible. That area is what I added for rev 3. In rev 2, you can see the chrome reflection all along the right hand edge...

Some finished pics for your viewing pleasure. I am aware that there was a bit of paint bleeding, as well as various parts being pretty dirty, but I am working on fixing that right now. Let me know what you think of them!
