if you have an ST you can swap in a 4age 20V, a 4agze (supercharged), or with a GT (or a little more work on an ST) you can swap in a 3sgte (turbo) or 3sge (NA). supra engines, the mk4 twin turbo 93-98 will not physically fit in the engine bay, or bolt up, but even if you did, you don't have a FWD tranny that can handle that power, so you'd have to convert to RWD which is so expensive it's pointless. 3sgtes have more potential than the 2JZ-GTE anyway. if you look at all the really really really fast supras in japan, they all have 3sgte's in them. best engine toyota ever built.

I know the 3sgte is an awesome engine, but I don't see how it can have more potential than the mk 4 supra. I mean, there are quite a few 700+ supra's, and at least 2 with 1000+ hp. I don't see how the 3sgte can surpass that. Yes, I know it weighs a lot less making the car as a whole faster. However, if one were to build it up to insane amounts of hp, the car will have to be RWD or AWD. There's no way you could have a FF celica with 700 horsepower. Well, technically there is, but honestly what's the point, you'd never move! Don't get me wrong, I love the 3sgte, and will do the swap after my freshmen year, but I just don't see the logic there. Please, prove me wrong. biggrin.gif

your motor will last easily 200k+
as long as you take care of it
if you plan on racing it, it will
only last to approx 165k then
things go bad. i know about
9 people including myself with
that experience.

Hi Char!

The JGTC chose the 3SGTE because it was lighter and fits way back into the firewall, giving the car an almost 50:50 weight distribution and massive acceleration due to power-to-weight ratio.

Also, for the power required, 300hp and 500HP, the 2JZ would be anover kill.

As you can see from the pictures and common sense, 3SGTE was chosen on these characteristics.

I think that every Celica owner needs to know about this engine. I think Coomer needs to stated this on 6gc.net as the altimate swap.

Someone need to do this swap with a complete write up on it and picture so other can see and understand. After all, this is suppose to be the 6 Generation Celica site.

I will add this link here: JGTC.NET for some research on Supras with 3SGTE engine making 300 - 500HP.

Amen to that. Can you imagine your car with the 3s at 300Hp? your tires would have no use. you would need Monster tires just to think about driving hard.
