If you feel the need for speed I would definatley suggest you get the mr-2 turbo.
You wont need any money for an engine swap, and instead you can put that $4000 or so into the engine, upgrade the turbos, make the mr-2 super fast. In my opinion nothing beats a mid engine rwd car. Superb handling and acceleration, a FWD celica wouldn't be able to touch that performance wise As far as looks go I like the way both cars look, but if you get a mr-2 know that you wont be lugging stuff around and that the interior is kinda small. I'm 6'4 and i can jsut bearly fit! I would go for the mr-2 if I were you, t-top, turbo, mid engine, rwd, its just awesome! -------------------- |

I say go for an MR2 Turbo with T-Tops. Those are awsome little cars and if I could find a decent one with good miles down here I woulda probably got it instead of the Celica.

Yes there is; the AWD Celi is unbelievably better. Having experience with just about every sport Toyota model there is, i recommend you to do the swap. You do not have to change bumper and hood at all but if you feel they need to change, you can easily do exterior mods. Performance wise, the car will be even quicker than the AWD GT4 due to lower weight. The swap to a 3S-GTE engine is very simple and hassle free. One thing though, the transmission may find it a bit difficult to withstand the power. The MR-2 is nothing more a cute but fast little car. I would not say no to such a car but I am 6'4" tall and i have difficulties in my GT4 due to the roof being lower due to sunroof, so the MR-2 is out of the question for me. |

custom making a GT-4 look alike bumper from a stock one will be more expensive than just buying the real thing if you cant do it yourself, basically its going to just be a custom kit because the only thing the 2 bumpers really have in common are just around the headlights, even inbetween the headlights is different

sell your car and find a 93 all-trac. Swap in a 3rd gen 3sgte and give everygody on the road hell! (yea, too expensive, but hella fun I would think.)
Mr-2. Gotta love RWD burn outs. Jon |

The MR2 wouldn't neciasarily be cheaper.... has anyone seen the prices on decent MR2's? THEY ARE OUTRAGEOUS! And with the MR2 you lose the back seat.... I'd say go with the 185 swap, you get 25 more HP right there and vitually every engine part for the MR2 is the same on the 185 3S.
Also I hear that MR2's are really hard to work on with the way the engine hood opens and where the engine is located, harder then the celica atleast. |

I'm 6'4 and I fit into an mr-2, jsut barely though. As well, After driving an mr-2 and various awd cars I can say that I prefer RWD to AWD in dry weather, I think that oversteer is good if you know how to handle it. AWD just cant seem to turn as quickly, and is more suited to bad weather conditions, or rallying.. for the streets in the summer I would definatley take a rwd car. -------------------- |
