I was assuming I had a power antenna because from the outside it looked like it, when I opened the hatch and removed the side plastic it just looks like a long rod with a wire (ground) connected to it, and some tubing which runs thru a grommet..

Is this just a manual antenna that raises and lowers? if so where the hell can i get a replacement =).

I was under the assumption that all 6th gen had an automatic antenna

You're right, at least on pre-1996 cars getting manual antennae. Not sure if the ST got a power antenna after the minor change.

Not sure about a replacement though. The S2000 antenna seems like a pretty good idea, but the how-to article on the site doesn't mention a manual antenna. I've seen people put those horrible rubber antennas on 6th gen celicas, but I don't recommend the Auto Zone specials to anyone. (ugly)

Problem is the antenna broke off... (my damn kids) and there is really nothing left to grab to for the s2000 to be placed on it.

an antenna is an antenna basically. ever seen someone with a coat hanger antenna? works just as good as the one that came on there with a little rigging. so yea, the auto zone antenna will be just fine.
