I take personal issue with my car being referred to as a "hatchback." A "hatchback" applies to CRXs and Civics with vertically positioned rear point of ingress/egress. A "hatchback" is synonymous with 1000 pound POS import.
Toyota calls my model a "liftback" because the rear cargo port is at a 45 degree angle. It is only used as a hatch for getting people in and out of the car when two people are going to be... laying in back with the seats down (and using the so-perfectly placed rear window to look at the heavens afterward).
And perhaps once I have added a few horse under the hood, I might demand my car be referred to as domestics were a time ago, that is a "fastback."

Coupes are referred to as Sport Coupes.

And how do you open a H/B, you LIFT it, so theres no difference.

I dont care what mine is called. Hatch, lift, "hey, thats not a trunk?", etc. But the vertically positioned hatch's should go back to their real names.... wagons. lol

oh and sphinx... coupes are sexy but hatches look soooo much better... but lets not get into another forum battle smile.gif

What's wrong with pointless debates?

Liftbacks are way better, you can't fit a surf board into a sedan... I mean coupe. Though I guess when I put a strut bar in I won't be able to either, but that's beside the point.

And super, if you defined an object by what you do to it, you'd be driving a drive (not a car) and wearing Nike put-your-feet-ins (instead of shoes). Oh yeah, and hatches hatch open. It's totally a verb.

And another thing, liftback convertables look way better than convertables with trunks.

You know what? You passenger-car drivers are so infuriating with your flippant attitudes and constant teasing of us who don't have a trunk (that makes it heavier), I'm going to go start www.6gcliftbacksonly.net.

Thats right....some of my favorite on this site are coupes (Coomer, gh0st_d0g, and some others come to mind) but others are hatches (Any GT-4 on here, and lots others that are well done).
It's all about how you use what you got and make it look sexier than they already are. Besides, i dont think i would call a Silvia the evil "S" word just cuz it has a trunk...lol.

....Or an M3, or a skyline....maybe even an MR2, since that has a trunk....
