Im doing a transmission swap and have gotten most of my parts together. However my dad and i are unsure if I need a ecu from a manual 7a motor or if i can use the automatic ecu that i have now??

I also want to know if i need a new half shaft?? I have heard different things and TAP recycling is unsure.

from what i've been told u can use the auto ecu for manual swap but u can't use a manual for a automatic so u should be set.

racer25 did an auto-> manual swap in his ae102 (7a-fe) and used the auto ecu. The only issue is either a check engine or a tranny? light. I don't remember at this time.

if your car has O/D then you may run into problems w/ the ecu if you want it to go smoothly i suggest using a ecu from a 5spd or a 3 spd auto

the reason is the 4 speed auto(3speed w/ overdrive) is electronically controlled by the ecu

and with a manual tranny you're in control.... all it will do is throw a light
