Okay I seriously do not know how I lost. My car has more hp, more torque... the only thing his had was less weight. He had pretty much the same mods as me as well. This pisses me off because I've raced like 4 cars ever... and I've lost to all 4. mad.gif

The only thing I can think of is that my intake was not installed correctly because I had a friend install it and it was not exactly how the directions said. I guess I'll take a look tomorrow.

I started pretty good off the line, then as soon as I got to 2nd, he flew past me! confused.gif Then he won by about 2 car lengths.

descripe the race... wtf happend? Your A GT... iam thinking it is a weight issue... i find very light civics with 2/3 of my power a challange sometimes..... still beat them all because i have them grossly overpowered... maybe the VTEC has something to do with it... maybe you have tranny problems ... maybe its the driver not the car...

well put the stock intake back in.. cause if you have a shot ram you could be lossing power if its just sucking in more hot air then the stock air box did.

Well that is pretty much all that happened... I took off better than him but once we got to 2nd he really gained on me, and did so for the rest of the race.

I will probably make sure the setup is correct for my intake, and if all else fails I'll put the old one back in. But normally aftermarket intakes will give you more hp won't they?...

Thanks for the help guys smile.gif

I think its more the driver, My Buddy has a 2000ex with CAI and exhauast and hes a good driver and I took him by a car and a half. I think you gotta be more the right driver for the car. Im not saying your not a bad driver or anything but Like when I drove my buddys new MKIV I didnt find it fun at all, but When I drove a FD or my FB I just have a blast.

And Mina its not really a VTEC thing because EX civic's are SOHC Ive never seen that engine make over 300hp.

I've witnessed EX civics beat Integras, B18B's with same mods on both cars. Minor like i/h/e. It's geared reall good. Heck all Honda's and Acuras are. My ST feels like it drops rpm's big time when I go to second no matter how fast you shift it.

Again... like Kuya said, do you know the guy. Sounds like the guy might have turbo. Your over horsed engine took the line, but once the turbo lag was gone he could fly by. I see turbo's on EX's all the time. Hell you can get them on ebay for 1000 bucks with fmic's. Insane. Then again, if he has no turbo, its goes back to the driver. Watch InitialD vol 4. lol. Make an AE85 levin take a S13.

And as for me; My buddy has an 98' EX civic and we fun race all the time. I win cause I'm a better driver. Otherwise, STOCK, the cars are just about the same.

dont worry about it, everyone meets a sleeper at least once.

i know i was the first sleeper for several people.

my sleeper experience was with a 88 ford ranger with a 5.0 mustang engine in it. suprised me much like that EX suprised you, only he was making smoke all through first gear.

I dunno how you lost man, even when I was stock I was beating Civics with an intake and an exhuast. Damn auto tho, I remember losing one time because it shifted to third gear and held at 4k RPMs for no reason- I was winning by 2 car lengths until then too. (but we hadn't been going long enough to consider it a "win" yet)

Yes I know they guy... he's my brother and I know what he has done to the car. I doubt it could be the drivers because they were both automatics. It's got to be engine problems...

ok i CAN TELL YOU WHY YOU LOST. same issue for me, its our transmission. The ecu has us limited at 5800 RPM this is our huge huge huge downfall. civics and such rev to over 6000 so when we shift into sec they are still pulling and then when they do shift they come back at a higher RPM then we do this is why we lose
