After finishing my stereo yesterday this morning I came out and tried to start the car and the car needed to be jumped.
After I jumped it, I shut it off and then turned it back on (the battery had no time to charge) and then it started right up. My step dad said that it probably wasnt the battery being dead if it started back up. The battery is 3 years old should I just replace it and see if that solves the problem? Also is running a power wire to the stereo from the battery a constant drain on it? Whats the best way to attach a power wire. thanks all -Brian |

Running an amp wire from the battery to the amp is normal... check to see if your amp however is turning off when ur radio or car turns off via the radio's amp/ant turn on lead..
Your battery might not be able to handle the power, or one of your cells are bad. How many amps you running btw? if your running a few and their drawing alot of current your alternator might not be able to handle it and wont charge the battery enough. |

It shouldent be draining your battery unless you have a short circuit some where. For the Amp about the only thing you can do it install a switch on the Remote Lead so that way you can turn off your amps when you want. It may just be time to replace the battery too, I know when I had all my system going ( you've seen it ) that my battrey would last only for about 3 min then my amps would shut off, Replacing your alternater might be a good idea too.

Im not using an amp just a head unit and 4 speakers.
I ran my own complete custom wiring to the speakers and a power wire directly to the battery. For the ACC power I ran it to thefuse box and put it under the cig&radio fuse. |

That might be the problem, maybe your stock amps are staying on...
Could be a possibility... |

You really dont need all that power for a head unit.
![]() The Yellow wire is the only one that needs to be a on a constant 12 (+) , The Red wire needs to be hooked up to a 12(+) when the Ignition is on. Just make sure you Fuse Protect both those wires or Smoke perhaps. And the Yellow wire isnt enough to drain your battery for months. It holds the Time and your presets thats about it. -------------------- I am a thief.

yeah clipse thats how I have it except no inline fuses yet...
I dont think the stock amps are staying on because I know all the plugs are un plugged from the 1st amp... tomorrow I will disconnect the rest of the wires from the under drivers seat amp |
