Hey guys,
ive seen these power inverters in walmart and autozone to convert power to AC and they have three prong outlets like regular home outlets to power appliance and whatnot. I was thinking if this unit could be hooked up, maybe stored under the seat or somehwere out of view, and the the wires run to the outlets mounted to the dash, I was thinking that little pocket to the right of the cigarette outlet mounted nice and flush and maybe molded seamlessly with fiberglass or some plexiglass. That would be tight!! Do you think this would be possible? What wires would I run them to? the cigarette lighter wires will be too thin, so one might have to be hooked up directly to the battery with heavy gauge wire. |

I think that your idea will work. The converters run off of the cigarette oulet anyways, you just have to make sure that it keeps cool (most of them have fans) and you do not use any splitters. so if its just one outlet, then you only hook up one thing to it, and dont go over the limit (it tells you was it supports depending on the model) and know that it will drain your battery quick!

If you've got the guts and time, you can mount it underneath your center armrest. There's a pretty good storage area in there, and the inverter I bought fits in it nicely. You'll have to drill some holes to get it to physically stay in, or use velcro (my temporary solution). As for the fans, these type of units will certainly overheat, so you could possibly have it directed so that the fan points outwards towards the rear ashtray, have that removed, and it blows right out the back? Mess around with it, just don't make a hasty decision that you'll regret!
