sup fella's..when you guys run your celi hard do you get kind of a funky smell after 4 grand? i do, i always thought that was just the engine really heating up. but now i'm thinking i might be burning mad oil after 4 grand. oil levels stay fine unless i run it hard on a regular basis. and i know some oil will burn up. but mine seems to be a ridiculous amount. i don't know..maybe its just my imagination. but 10w40 redline shouldn't burn up like this. just thought i'd see if any of you notice the same type of things.

Yeah mine burns it also when I drive it hard. I kinda figured out that the reason that Im burning oil is due to my driving habits.

an engine shouldn't burn a NOTICABLE amount more oil when driving hard, unless you do it every time you get in your car...and that's a very bad decision to make, not only for the car's life, but for your own. anyway, you might wanna get your car checked out man. bryan, you might too, if you notice that it's burning oil, also, do you check your temp gauge? and if so, does the car get hot at all?
my suggestion is just to get a check-up and all at a reliable place. -John- -------------------- |

I just noticed the past two oil changes my oil being low and the oil light going on. I didn't even make my last oil change. 2000 miles in, I was close to dry and had to add a quart or two. I brought it in to be looked at and they said they couldn't tell me why. they said to come in every 500 miles to track how much consumption. If its consistently burning up oil more than it should, then they said they would open it up, take it apart, and take a peek inside. I do ride my car hard most of the time, its just so much fun. Have any of you found a way to fix this?

Could it also mean that it's time for a tune up?

my temp gauge is good, and i always keep an eye on it. oil light never comes on, fuse is good. maybe my bulb is bad cause i have let it get pretty low twice on accident.
and i can't stop driving hard..its just way too much fun to drop her into 3rd and smoke that stupid farkin stratus with the unsightly alluminum wing and 4" tail pipe. hehe |
