What's up all, I'm looking at some 17" spades here:

(ADR spade package at the bottom)
First off, is that a good tire size that those rims come with? And second off, if it's not, what would be a good, slim, tire that wouldn't make for a real rough ride. Sizewise that is.

205/40s don't leave much rubber protecting the rims

I'd stick with 215/40 or better.

Actually you have that the other way around Ghost, 205/40 is the recommended size that they suggest. 205 means that's how wide the tire is...so 215 is wider giving more handling than the 205. Or did I read your post wrong Doggy? hehe if I did mah bad. biggrin.gif

Anyways, If you want more rubber to protect the wheel that's when the 40 series or 45 series comes in to play. That's how much sidewall you're going to have. So a 35 is TOO thin, gives you a better chance at damaging your wheel. The 45's is what I'm going to go for after doing a Search on "Tire Size" in the forums here. Reason being that I want better protection and the roads here in Michigan aren't too great. So I want to be safe and go with a thicker side wall. But it all depends on preference.

I suggest 215/45 but be aware your speedo might be a tad off....

Hope this helps. smile.gif

well the stock tire size for the st is 185/70 R14. and when you compare it to 205/40 R17 you'll see that the overall height is 0.74" less than stock. now the reason I said 215/40 R17 or better is because its closer to stock size and it has ~0.2" more sidewall than the 205/40's to protect the wheel.

I do agree though, 215/45 R17 is imo the ideal size. the overall height is 0.5" more than stock, but provides comfort and optimal rim protection.
