Ask them if it comes with the rear differential, driveshaft, and rear brake/suspension assembly. I e-mailed toysport and they told me that the AWD conversion isn't possible. And on their site it says that the 3rd gen 3s-gte is $3,500 but when they e-mailed me back they said that it was $4,000-$4,500. Screw those guys.

Other than that, talk to or pm neverstop he will tell you everything that you need

i'd just get a 2nd gen 3sgte, the parts are readily available in the US... the 3rd gen, if you need new spark plugs or a belt, you need to order it from japan.

you have to get an st205 front and rear clip, good luck... i wish people would get off of this topic... it's not simple, and it's not bolt-on. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

all neverstop will tell you is "get the rear end of the gt4 and bolt it on to your car"

yea, the reason that i said that is because i figured that he could enlight us all on the project. But foget it. The best and less expensive thing to do than importing all the parts separate and/or buying them all separate is to just get yourself a gt-4 like a 5th or maybe 4th gen. And just have the shop transplant everything. Keep in my mind this is not a cheap modification by any means. After some long hard thinking at work, I have decided that I am not gonna do the AWD conversion unless I get a really good price on the parts. Which I don't see happening. I figure the best thing to do is just to keep it FWD. The main reason I think that is because the gt-4 has a Torsen Limited Slip Differential that comes with the front clip. Which will give you great traction. And traction is the main reason that I thought about doing the AWD conversion. Also, I figure that unless you are going to dump some serious money into your celica ($15,000+) then the that mod is not really worth it.

That's just my opinion and I'm sure that lots of people agree with me.

From all the AWD talk, I started to think it was a "bolt-up" project. I understand now, and you're right. To me it's not worth all the money.

some new news on the parts. I called Jarco today and they said that at the end of march they are getting in a rear cut of a ST205 with all parts intact needed for the AWD conversion. Excluduing the AWD tranny. (I already have that anyway). They told me that it would be about 700-1000 dollars shipped. Not that bad. I thought that it was gonna be a lot more than that. But it is pre-pay only. Meaning I have to mail them a check or money order. It's cool with me. I am gonna try to figure out how hard it would be to install that stuff before I do it though.

Acutally I would of told you more than that but its kinda hard to explain everything with out having the person your trying to explain it to standing right there... yes you do need to locate all of the parts... getting a 6th gen rearclip or a 5th gen alltrac would be your best bet.

As for "bolt it on to your car" I have never said that to neone. there is cuttin involved and relocating and A WHOLE LOT OF MEASURING! get someone who has some REAL GOOD experience with hydrolics to help with this cuz those guys usally know what there talking about.. this isnt a one man job by no means and there is no ONE way to go about it.. yea isn't that hard to do if you have all of the parts and do a little prep work to your car, and yes if you do it right you can get it done in a days work but you better have your offfical "DREAM TEAM" with you.

you guys need to relize that I grew up at a race track with alot of old hotrodders and I have seen and helped with alot of crazy stuff that have been done to cars.. I also have alot of friends with alot of powertools and too many cars on there hands.. when tend to get bored and start cutin and messin around - kinda like monster grage.... guess what I am sayin is that some things that most people think would be nearly impossible to do my friends and I just look at as something that "wouldnt be that hard to do" and figure out how to do it.

as for the AWD conversion... yes you can do it. and no its not that hard. just make sure that you have all the parts ahead of time and really plan out how you are gonna do it and what steps your gonna take and have alot of help.. otherwise just paysomeone to do it for you.

okay well jarco called me again today and they said that i could get the rear clip as long as I had someone to buy the front too. Total for shipping to iowa. $5500. That's for front and rear clip of an st205. Not sure if projector headlights or hood/bumper are still intact. but damn. full conversion kit for 5500. some places charge that much for just the front.

also neverstop....how much do you think that it would cost for some place to do that for me?

www.jarcoinc.com BUT BUT BUT... you need to call them. these guys do not do big business over the internet, no one will take you seriously about something unless you call them. i mean, if i email them and say I want a st205 front and rear clip, how do they know i'm not 15? they don't. but 15 year olds don't call places up asking about stuff like that. use the phone, it will make everything a lot easier.

neverstop, i'm willing to admit that the conversion is possible, but i really don't thing you can use a 5th gen GT4 suspension. they are not the same size.

and also, i quote the PM entitled "re: pics"

"You need to cut away some of the sheet metal that is located near the stock location of the gas tank... once you have the new rear end infront of you, you will be able to see what I mean.

Bolt on the new rear end and connect it to the transmission via your drive shaft and transfercase."

because I dont trust my self painting my car.. and the guy who owns the bodyshop is an old friend of me and my dad so I trust him... that and I am paying nothing but cost for the paint and a little bodywork that I dont want to mess with. so he has just been workin on it as a side project and I dont drive my celica in the winter newayz so its been no real big deal
