This might sound like a dumb question, I have no clue about audio. I have a 95 celica gt with 8 factory speakers (i think) and wanted to know if I can install an amp and a sub with just the factory stereo?

true you can use the converter , as i have on many other cars for other people , but the quality is not as great as useing correct cables , i would suggests getting an aftermarket deck the some subs if you want it to sound the best , but it up to you it will still work with the converter as well just make sure you buy a good one , i have heard that the JL amps well exept the signal without a converter by putting rca plugs on the speaker wire from the speaker s ,but not for sure never heard of it

Some amps have low / high (?Forget which its called) level inputs which is basically just the stock wire input from your cd player. So yes.
