Alright, anyone ever planned to put a targa top on our car, because you know how sweet it would look. How else could I possibly stiffen up the chassis? Anything maybe with the convertible chassis. Just curious to any ideas there might be, I also know I would need a full roll cage.

I think what he's saying is, he has a convertable and wants to make it stiffer by making it a targa top. Well, in reply, anything is possible with enough money. However, I think a better route would be to trade your convertable for my coupe. You get a stiffer car, and I get a convertable for summer, everybody wins wink.gif

i think he means that is there anything on the convertable chassis that he could use to stiffen his so that he can cut out the targa, without stiffening the chassis the car will eventually start to fold in on itself, causing a very undisireable effect on your targa and the over all safety of the vehicle.

the convertible has a rear lower floor brace on the inside. as for a roll cage, i'd go for a roll BAR instead of cage. cages get in the way, and you'd have to run it thru your dash. i'd look up automobiles - convertible tops in the phone book, and go to a place that does custom convertible jobs.

I thought about doin this also about a year and a half ago... think I was thinkin at the time that I could make it look more like a supra or something... othewise after checkin this out with a local bodyshop I decided NOT to do it. it would of taken alot of titanium reforcements to make this work and not have alot of chassis flex... so after a couple months of thinking and holding off on my Sawzall urges decieded that it would not be a goodthing... but god would it look cool biggrin.gif

I was thinkin about doin this to my car also, but i didn't know for sure if i would have to spend extra to reinforce the body or frame at all. But from what i gathered from Neverstop's post, i'm guessin that some reinforcment is required which is a big kick in the balls cause i was hoping for the better of the two.

Ok, like how much work would be needed to do this, neverstop. Oh yeah guys, I have a hatchback, sorry to confuse you guys. But I thought maybe using the chassis reinforcements from the convert. would be possible to transfer it over. Any other Ideas. God it would look AWESOME!!!!!! I want it so bad.

look, if you really want to do this, go to a damn custom convertible store and ask them. don't ask a stupid kid on the internet how it's going to work or what you have to do. you never know who is talking out of their a**. besides, having mechanical knowledge about engines doens't mean you also know stuff about bodywork. i would guess it'll be about 2 grand to do, there was an eclipse with a targa in mag awhile ago and i think i remember it being about that much.
