So my battery light keeps coming on intermittently..

I took the car to Toyota yesterday and had an AVR performed. Alternator was kicking out 60A, and the battery seemed fine. The tech said there might be a slight draw somewhere from a loose wire (stereo.. alarm.. etc)

So .. no problems. Drove around all day and night. Parked over night, went to start the car and the battery was completely DEAD!

Being paranoid, I cut and taped all accessories from the battery (amp, fog lights etc etc)

Called Roadside assistance, got boosted, and voila.. car starts and charges. He said the battery was COMPLETELY dead, so I drove around for a bit.

NO MORE light..

Until I almost made it home. The light came on again.

Now the battery is only 6 months old. The alternator isn't that old. Not sure which is the suspect between the two, but one of them is flaky.. The alternator obviously was chargin fine (as it charged the car just now)

So think it's the battery?

Any suggestions?!

Thanks!

Shaun

it does sound possibly like the battery isn't holding it's charge. Hast it been ok to start - or is it a bit hard to crank.

I had a similar problem when my car was stood for a few days - the battery lost it's charge pretty quickly. when it was in the dealer getting a new clutch and service, they did a 'drop-test' on the battery to check if it's on it's way.. it was replaced and I've nothad a problem since.

Electical it could always be a flu of problems, start with the battery as it is the easyest to replace, and hopefully thats all it is. Optima Red or Yellow toppers are nice.

Thanks guys! I'm guessing you guys are right and it is infact the battery.

The car was sitting out here in the colds of Canadian Winter while I was vacationing in the Carribean for the past week or so.

I just feel like a nerd for going ahead and clipping all my cables! LOL. My poor AMP cable was so nice -- arg!

The battery is relatively new, so hopefully the battery will be replaced under warranty! Thanks guys!

Shaun!
