You can bore a H22 out to 2.8ltrs. wink.gif

I don't think the H22 will fit in a Civic/Del Sol(they started as the Civic Del Sol when they first came out because they're based on the Civic). But the B18 will fit no problem.

Congrats on getting a new ride. I'm sure with a little suspension upgrade you'll have lots of fun with it.

They were the new generation of CRX...kinda like the Integra and RSX.

Congrats on the Del Sol man. Theyre great cars. PM me if you wanna sell that wing. I'd like some pics 1st but im interested in buying it. Some cars look ricey w/ one, but it just depends. I've been thinking of getting one, although i prefer the shogun wings. Good luck w/ your car.

alright.... to clear some misconceptions (i do this a lot on this board, lol)..

the del sol is one of the HEAVIEST smaller cars that honda makes.... i believe it's even heavier than the 3rd gen integras..... the del sol is NOT lighter than any of the civics.... why? it's small!! because of the removable hardtop -- the body needs more supports & bracing to withstand the stresses of daily driving for where it's lost in the detachable roof..... imagine trying to build a rollcage that was only 2 feet tall.... that would take a LOT of piping to do the same with a rollcage that extends to the roof

that being said.... the SI has the sohc vtec motor... not the best platform to start on, but a decent one... (forgot that the del sol vtec has the b16, not the si....)

not to knock the car... but it is kind of a chick car...... although i have fun driving my moms del sol (yes, she has a 95 si), i feel hella girly every time i get in it..... lol

and as far as handling... they handle like a honda.... and a 95 auto si isn't any faster than my 90 corolla with a 4a-fe was

also... don't get any rock chips.... the body in those cars flex a LOT.... even with the roof closed...

we've replaced the windshield two times already.... a small rock chip becomes a crack going all directions very quickly in those cars

It is not heavier than any integras but it is heavier then all the civic hatchbacks by about 700-800 lbs.

Any flaws that car has are the same North American Celicas have..

Hey, good luck with the new car man. wink.gif Dont worry what anybody says about it, you can make Del-Sol's look great. It has some excellent engine possibilities, tons of exterior options, etc...just keep it simple and clean looking and you can be sure to get (almost) anybodys respect.

WHAT?!

Simple.

Man, I'm gonna have the blitz bodykit with a 4 foot tall wing with stickers all over my car and 20" spreewells. Man, and I'm gonna remove the passenger seat and put in like 2 12" speakers and NOS, and twin turbos, and put on green neons and vinyl all over my car. rolleyes.gif

Yeah, all I plan on doing right now is basic stuff, making the redding out the tails, exhaust, intake, lowering, then prolly gonna put a buddyclub kit on it with no spoiler and some decent 16" rims, then later on work on the engine, maybe swap it, or even turbo, who knows smile.gif

And Andason, just for you I'm gonna stick a NAWZ sticker on my back window wink.gif

Any flaws that car has are the same North American Celicas have..

They're heavier than Civics. They weigh roughly 2500 pounds... which is roughly 100 pounds more than a Civic hatch (they're about the same weight as a Civic coupe). Integras are around 2600-2800 depending on trim. It's not heavier by 700-800 pounds... I mean... that will put it around 3200 pounds... ;] The whole deal is, it's not an overly heavy car... but it's very heavy for its size.

And... the Del Sol SI has the VTEC D16. Nothing too special... but still has potential to be faster than his previous car. The cool Del Sol would be the Del Sol VTEC, with the B16...

If the honda guys can manage to fit H22's into CRX's... a Del Sol should be no problem...;] anyways... it's most likely already been done.

ok first off, do a little research about cars before you go off, ok, the del-sol is lighter , yes lighter then the celicas, also has a better tranny, therfore the v-tec also even the si would probley beat any celi first. They do look a lil girlie, but there still sweet ass cars, the only one ive drivin was my buddys 97 v-tec, yes the rare one... i like it, if it was a little wider or even bigger i would def drop the celi... not to bash on celi's but dont try to start bashing on del-sol's..... just be happy for the man... cause thats the last thing he wants is for people to bash on him... sorry guys i know this is a lil overdone, but after a hard long day of school, im kinda getting angree.....

good luck, oh where are some pics????

i do know about the car.... my mom has a 95 del sol SI... and it's around as fast/slow as a 1990 corolla sr5 with a 4a-fe.... trust me, i've driven BOTH several times..... plus, my neighbor back home has a 92 gsr and was the one who told me about the weight issue.... and seeing how he's been in the import scene and 99% into honda's & b series motors since he bought the car (in 1991), i would say he knows what he's talking about......

but my 4a-ge now is much quicker than her del sol..... the del sol does handle well... which is why i said "it handles like a honda"..... they have good factory suspension.....

and i'm not going off.... lol... if you see it as such then you're reading too much into it tongue.gif

How about you do some research...? Del Sols are light... but not for their size. They weigh in the 2500 pound neighborhood (moderately loaded SI models) and that, is heavier than a Civic hatchback, which is between 2100-2400 pounds depending on trim (EG Civic hatchback models) Coupes weigh roughly 50-60 pounds more. A 6gc Celica, which is far larger, weighs between 2400-2600. Yes, they do have shorter geared trannies, which make better use of their power, but that was never a question. Bringing it up is pointless. As far as I can tell, aside from the stupid fawks who said stupid things, no one has bashed the Del Sol.

Overall... the Del Sol is a nice little car... impractical, but nice. The SI trim isn't exactly what I'd choose, but if the owner is happy with it, that's all that matters. It has its ups and downs, in terms of performance, but when compared vs. a 6th gen, It far surpasses in terms of aftermarket support. IMO, honda makes the best n/a engines...
